OK, THAT would probably cause bodily injury to occur to myself!

Only if your in the same house. My evil twin plans to quietly disappear in December. Like it never happened.

Wow, gentlemen, I didn't know whether to laugh or cry when I read this thread! I guess I'm a truly disappointing Russian wife: no slippers and no cussing!

Cussing? My wife does not cuss except on one occasion when some stupid moron pulled out in front of her and nearly caused us to wreck. No slippers? You wear your high heels in the house?

If you feel like you are defective in some way, have your husband box you up and send you to Dr. Finetush's secret labratory in the Urals for adjustment. Tell him to make holes in the box so you can breathe.

When my son was born, I tried to convince my wife that store brand diapers would do just fine even though the hospital uses Pampers. No go. Huggies might be okay, but everything else is out of the question. 4 months later, I come home from work and my wife tells me, "Did you know that there are Wegman's brand diapers and they are almost half the price of pampers." I really wanted to say, I told you that four months ago. But I decided to hold my tongue out of fear that if I said that she might continuing buying Pampers just to prove me wrong.

I found it was just easier to let her learn the lessons about cost savings in America on her own. Some lessons are learned early but others are still in the works. Patience is a virtue that a man marrying a FSU woman needs.

Don't get me wrong, we learn a lot from them too, but sometimes trying to explain the why is just like talking to a wall. The word is out there but no one is listening. :bonk:

But, there is one thing for sure. Life is not boring.

No offense, Gary! It sounded like everybody else took pride in their ladies' vocabulary choices.

High heels? Haha, that's another reason to feel defective! What's that Dr.'s address? I wear (and like) high heels, but I like my Converse just as much :) I prefer walking around the house barefoot - or in socks if it's cold. Been this way my whole life. And it doesn't bother me the least that my husband wears shoes in the house.

To each their own!

You are not nearly combative enough!

We have snow now, until probably May, and Alla gets real beligerent about shoes. I wore them in the house tonight, just to run in and get something I forgot...I got a lecture.

"You can take off your shoes at the door like I do, or you can call me to come and bring you something, there is no third option!" Alla will never walk barefoot, the floors are dirty (even though she cleans them almost every day!)

And today I heard about it that Americans have this phobia to put everything in the refrigerator, "Everything is wonderful as long as it is COLD" but they wear shoes in the house and then sit on the floor, put their feet on the table, put shoes in a bag with their other clothes and do not wash their hands enough. Yada, yada, yada. It is torture! after all this she says "What do you think about this strange behavior?" I said "I think we need a bigger refrigerator"

The kids and I just got back from Yalta for a week...Shoes off at the door..or quiet stares until they are taken back there....the biggest challenge was keeping the different drinks segregated. Okay two pineapple juices one in fridge other on counter..the only thing they will drink cold is that yellow milk or kefir. Apparently everything has to spoil or get sour before it tastes good? It was fun to watch my kids faces when served breakfast...peice of bread with butter and slices of raw fish while her daughter walks around the house eating a whole onion raw!!!

thank goodness we all like eggs..

I'm late to this party but....

Yes street shoes off at the door and house slippers go on....but she doesn't curse me or throw knives if I run in or whatever. I guess I'm about the same as her concerning this.

Everything goes into the fridge but she'll zap drinks in the micro before she drinks them.

She was at first appalled that I would drink drinks cold straight out of the fridge, or even worse with ice, or even far worse, eat the ice after the drink is finished....until she got a taste of summers here in Chicago....."It's like being in Egypt!"

After a couple of days working outdoors in 90 deg F weather with 1000% humidity did she come to appreciate a nice cold one!!

She doesn't curse but there are some expressions that she will use, like when the dog is eating her newly planted flowers....that translate something like, "Get out of my flowers or I'll cut your XXX off and send you to Siberia!" The dog knows what it means!

Phil (Lockport, near Chicago) and Alla (Lobnya, near Moscow)

As of Dec 7, 2009, now Zero miles apart (literally)!

Ice. Your Alla sounds like cassette number 4 of my Alla. OMG I heard all the bad things about ice, especially (HORROR)eating the ice cubes. Everything from it will break your teeth to it will shrink your...manhood. I think she threw that one in.

I haven't found Alla or the boys eating just plain raw onions like PT has seen but I bet she would. She does comsume a lot of onions (I like them too) and eats huge pieces with her other food. I am sure she probably has eaten onions like you would an apple. Don't even get me started on that stinky fish!

I learned all the bad words to say to the dog in Russian and speak perfect Russian to the dog. It is not really "cussing" though.
