http://www.visajourney.com/content/k1k3aos You need to read this. If you have had a medical within the last 12 months you do not need another one just your vaccination report transcribed over to I-693.

The guides on this site are very helpful please read.

She is not a K-1 filer; I assume she is currently on a student visa because it says F-1 in her profile.

OP, if you ARE a current f-1 student, you'll get better results posting here. http://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/130-adjustment-of-status-from-work-student-tourist-visas/

and you will follow this path

As far as the medical, they will test you for syphilis and tuberculosis and you will have to get some shots or provide some immunization records OR they can test your blood for antibodies. It's not a big deal! Just go to a civil surgeon and see what they say. Good luck!

AOS for my husband
8/17/10: INTERVIEW DAY (day 123) APPROVED!!

ROC:
5/23/12: Sent out package
2/06/13: APPROVED!

Did you get your question answered?

If not, here's my experience:

Had my vaccinations for MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) as well as Tdap (Tetanus and Diphtheria) at my regular doctor (covered by insurance ) and got that in writing in my little yellow book. They also performed a Tuberculosis skin test there and got the results of that

in a letter signed by my regular doctor.

The civil surgeon confirmed these results but drew some blood in order to test me for syphilis (forgot to do that at my own doctor).

The exam by him was quick and literally painless, he asked me if I had chickenpox, checked my blood pressure and heartbeat and sent me on my merry way asking to come back in 2 days after he'd been receiving the syphilis results and to pick up the sealed envelope plus my copy.

You basically can have some stuff already done at your regular doctor, if you have one, negotiate with a civil surgeon's office about the fee they charge.

If you don't have health insurance and a doctor you go to, you either can just get everything done at a civil surgeon or look into your community's non profit services, I know in my county there is a clinic that provides low-cost vaccinations

Good luck on your journey :)

Thank u so much everybody for the info.

Yes I entered the US with an F1 visa but since I got married here now i want to apply for AOS.

I already got a list of civil surgeons where i can this done and luckily i have all my vaccination records from my country but i d probably have to get one or 2 extra shots done.

I heard about the TB test and the blood test to check if i have any STD.

The reason why i was asking is because i m terrified about Dr s ( I know it sounds silly but... i hate it when i have to go or get a blood test done...lol that s why i wanted to know what to expect but... i m starting to feel a bit better now since I see it s that that terrible as i thought...

Thanks again for the info and I ll let u guys know when i have my medical appointment and the results, I ll be in touch, let s keep fingers crossed that things will go well.

Have a great day everyone!!

Leslie :star:

At this time of the year, you will also have to get the flu shot. My husband had to get the MMR, tdap, flu, and varicella vaccines. He had said he already had the chicken pox, but still had to get the vaccine. He also had the TB and syphilis test. We thought his TB skin test would come back positive, since he'd already been tested for it as a child. Thankfully it didn't! So he didn't have to do the chest x-ray, etc. Best of luck!
