After reading through Packet 3 from Montreal and everything online, I've created a checklist I made for my fiancé to help walk her through. It's attached to this post. Any thoughts?

tallfrond, you rock. a lot. seriously, a million thanks.

I'm glad you cae along to calm me down. It's basically the same process as before, but with the online stuff beforehand, then waiting for "P4" via email.

The DHL business still ticks me off, since I dunno how I'd get to London during a school week to send it.... "okay kids, classtrip to DHL in London!!" haha....

I've thought about the DHL and I'm still confused even about how it's supposed to work. Jess and I went through the first steps together over Skype last night, and while we figured out how to register her info and select the DHL location, no info was provided on how to ship via DHL.

P3 says "Please return the forms and checklist to the US Consulate via the DHL courier location that you previously selected. This service is provided to you at no additional cost." Well that's great but assuming you can get to a DHL location, how does one go about getting this free shipping? Do they print out a shipping label at some point?

Excellent info!!

wonder if you can have it pinned so others can make use of it?

I would like to update it once Jess and I finish our process and have it put in the embassy info or somewhere more permanent. I don't think it's quite ready yet though!

Shipping back via DHL seems like an oversight they forgot to explain. And why would you have to send it back via the location you selected? Why does it matter where the mail originated from? It doesn't make sense.

Very helpful! I wish someone would have done that when I was at that step (mind you the info was probably on here, I was just too lazy to look it up!)

I don't know if the procedures have changed since last spring, but I think it would be good to note that you don't actually have to send what is requested on the checklist when you send your P3 back. But like I said, it might have changed, I know that on my P3 letter, it was stated not to send anything yet, just to check and sign the checklist...

Just thought I'd put my two cents in!
