Hello everybody,

Thank you so much for helping me fill out all forms. Now I'm done with it.But I still need some advice from you guys.I'm kinda worried that my medical examination can affect my case. The story goes that I had TB 4 years ago in my country and I had full treatment for 9 months at that time. I have proof showing that I've fully treated from my TB specialist. I just went for immigration medical exam yesterday. I told the doctor that I had it before so if I took TB test, it would turn positive all the time. I asked if I could just take X chest ray so that I could save some money since there was no point of taking TB test while you knew the result already. He said I was still supposed to take TB skin test and X chest ray later. Since he's the one filling out I-693, I had to listen to him. I will have result on thursday, which I knew already. And then I will take X chest ray.For sure, they will find some scars on my lung since they will never go away. And I'm pretty sure that this doctor never have any case like mine.

The question is does anyone have this case before and how to handle it? [ I have proof of my treatment]

I'm really worried about it :(

Don't be worried, just be honest with the Dr. He is trained well... he might not see a lot of TB cases every day, but he knows what to do for sure. He has to make sure you don't have active TB now, as I understand it TB can come back. You can't game the doctor in any way. Let him follow protocol and it won't harm your AOS application.

AOS for my husband

Hello,

I wouldn't be too concern about it. Having TB is not the end of the world these days since there are so many different forms of treatment. Like you mentioned, your PPD test will be positive but if you said you've been treated, it must have meant you have had lesions in your lungs. When you do the chest xray, a radiologist can tell if the TB is currently active, OR if its old TB scar. The Civil Surgeon is NOT qualified to read CXR himself/herself so the scans would be sent out to an outside source with your provided history.

Don't worry about it.

P.S. I know because I am a physician myself. =)

I'm concerned just because my visa is gonna be expired soon.I thought I would send my application on time before it would be expired since I'm done with all the forms except I-693. I really don't wanna be out of status because of that.

I think you will be fine. Let me tell you a little story, a friend of mine was applying for AOS and after he took the TB skin test and before going to the doctor to have them read it, his little 2 years old was playing with him in a rough manner in the test spot. As a result, he ended up with a positive skin test. Of course, he had to get X-Rays done and it was all noted on his form. He now has the green card and everything went smooth for him.

I wouldn't worry about it and just focus on getting your package done soon. You will have a copy of I-693 for your record, you can read what the doctor wrote in it. Oh, and make sure all your forms are the correct date since you have been waiting for a bit!

Best of luck!!
