Netherlands Police Certificate

I know that Applicants can't obtain a police certificate themselves in the netherlands, but when I called NVC they mentioned we have to initiate it so how does this work and when/how early should we start requesting it?

just to note we are going to be Mailing IV packet out soon and it's not at NVC yet.

Anyone with prior experience on this matter would be appriciated on your advice.

Thanks,

May 2010 CR-1/IR-1 Filers Thread

“Love is patient, love is kind, it does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil, but rejoices in truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.” (Corinthians 13:4-7)

When I went through the immigration process you couldn't request the police certificate yourself. Whenever the US embassy in Amsterdam receives the completed file they will request the police certificate. Unless this has been changed recently, you cannot request the police certificate.

I was able to obtain the certificate for myself, i applied online and they sent me the Certificate of Conduct via mail. I also know a couple of friends in the Netherlands who got their certificates by themselves.

P.s. I just applied for it last month. It arrived after 3 weeks. There was a mistake so i called them and they sent me another one.

As per the US Embassy in AMSTERDAM "Police Certificates are not (!) available to you and will be acquired by the Consulate from the Justice Department"

All I know is that our experience is that we can not get the police certificate on our own ..we tried .Maybe it is regional...or maybe the Embassy does not accept the certificates that were not requested by them ?Maybe we should try doing it online whatever works ;-)

KRISPYKREME: Can you put a link to where you ordered your Certificate of Good Conduct ?I am looking but not much luck .

My friend from the Netherlands applied for his own certificate because he needed it for his K1 interview in the US embassy in Amsterdam. He was approved and is now married in the US. Same with another friend of mine who is under the ir1/cr1 visa category. He just passed his interview last week there in Amsterdam and he also obtained his own Verklaring Omtrent het Gedrag. Instructions on obtaining the police certificate for the Netherlands is also stated in NVC's website and yes, it is stated there that applicant should apply for his own certificate from COVOG.

This is the link where i got my certificate. http://justis.nl/producten/vog/index.aspx

I emailed them if i can request online since i need it asap and im here in the Philippines, and they told me i could..so i sent the application form, receipt of the 30 payment, and other requirements via email.
