Medical Requirements

I've been seeing some conflicting requirements on what people MUST have regarding vaccinations for their I693. The forms my Civil Surgeon just sent show HPV as still being required though I just read that it no longer is according to the CDC guidelines for Civil surgeon. I am 26 years old from the UK, do I need to have Hep B, Hep A and the meningococcal? Or are they not appropriate?

I believe that HPV vaccine can only be administered to females below 26 years old.

I can't find the accual CDA vaccine list (they have a really neat chart), but here is the link given by USCIS to the CDA's immigration requirements.

It's TDap, MMR, & Varicella. When you see a vaccination requirements chart, you find the column for your age, and then follow it down. (I sometimes find it helps to actually put the lines in!) You'll see that actually only those three apply to you.

Varicella isn't available in the UK, as I understand it, but if you have had the chickenpox before, usually that counts. The first two are usually for babies only in the UK, but available if you can talk your way into getting some from your GP. Getting dates on those on the sheet that the knightsbridge dr gives you will make your green card go much more smoothly.

Ah, I see the chart. Yes, I've had the chickenpox and actually, currently have shingles so I've got proof! Ha! Getting blood work and the TST test done tomorrow.

Remember that blood work is only for Syphilis. They don't require HIV anymore. Made me save about $50. hehe

The civil surgeon may need written confirmation from your doctor regarding the chickenpox or they might just take your verbal confirmation it all depends on the civil surgeon. If neither of these can be done the Varicella vaccination will be required.

Also certain states do require the Hep A & Hep B vaccinations if they are a High risk state for these diseases.

But if you call the civil surgeon in your area im sure he will confirm if they are required.

Why would HPV vaccine be a requirement? It is NOT mandatory for people to get HPV, whereas DTaP and MMR are required vaccinations.

Yes... HPV vaccine is only proven for people ages 9 through 26, simply because that is the age group the pharmaceutical company did study on.

However, the HPV vaccine only covers 4 subtype and there are about 100 subtypes.

Regarding chickenpox, most doctors will take verbal confirmation from you. My doctor just asked me if I had it and moved on to the following question.

same here....the doctor as well as nurse who filled out the form for me asked about my chickenpox "experience" and after I told them that my sister and me already had it, they went on with the form.
