I think even with all the delays in processing etc, it is still taking not more than yr and half for married folks to be able to bring their spouse to US on a green card. With so many K1 frauds, I think the US government cant help but take more time. Plus for unmarried folks, it is also a good test of their relationships.

It may be true that by comparison the K1 is faster than a K3. But that fact doesn't really help people feel better, especially if the K3 wasn't an option for us. And obviously the delays could have been avoided with proper planning and staffing. It's not a very difficult process - look at Vermont and how NSC used to process. There is no excuse for this.

I didn't pay $170 to USCIS and wait for 5+ months for a "test of our relationship". My I-129F did not include a request to "test my relationship" nor my patience or my faith in my own government to actually do something right.

you know thats right, KitKat1, and I agree 100% .

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

Here are links to the visa applications of some of the 9/11 hijackers:

http://www.nationalreview.com/document/document100902e.asp

http://www.nationalreview.com/document/document100902f.asp

They stem from this article which states this:

According to expert analyses of the visa-application forms of 15 of the 9/11 terrorists (the other four applications could not be obtained), all the applicants among the 15 reviewed should have been denied visas under then-existing law. Six separate experts who analyzed the simple, two-page forms came to the same conclusion: All of the visa applications they reviewed should have been denied on their face.

:star: Cass (bebop the great)

Does anyone remember if one of the hijackers from 9/11 came over on a marriage visa? If so, do you feel that with technology and the intelligence agencies that we should still have long delays in the process? Does the ends justify the means and/or can the system be more efficient and secure to satify National Security and our personal preferences in regards to the immigration process. I'm not sure but it's something to think about. The only thing I do know is that I wish this process were a HELL of a lot FASTER!

So many folks in this post are complaining. I think even with all the delays in processing etc, it is still taking not more than yr and half for married folks to be able to bring their spouse to US on a green card. With so many K1 frauds, I think the US government cant help but take more time. Plus for unmarried folks, it is also a good test of their relationships.

I think if all the illegals are granted citizenship, it will backlog the system to crazy.

Plus for the unmarried folk? Shouldn't this waiting period then be applied to all US citizens wanting to marry?

LuvLife - LOL! If that were to happen, I'm sure the divorce rate would dramatically decrease and/or fellow USCs would not get married. For some odd reason, because our marriages (or future marriages) involve immigration, somehow it's OK to put us through the inconvenience of an extremely slow bureaucratic process in the name of "national security." Where do we draw the line between reasonability and security? Evidently nobody with any influence really cares, but what’s new. Our problems don’t effect them enough to make a difference.

What I would really like to know is this, why is it that a company or corporation can pay $1,000 to have a workers visa rushed through while the K1 and K3 visa's get pushed aside? Aren't there enough unemployed U.S. Citizens already? As for not having the skillset to perform the skills necessary for the job, I seriously doubt that!!!

I have no proof of this, but my guess is that even when a corporation pays for an expedited work visa, it doesn't really get expedited (after all, how would the company know what timing is "normal" and what timing constitutes "expedited"). Unless work visas are handled by a service center on fantasy island, it seems very unlikely that they have the staff or the competence to actually expedite anything.

Plus for the unmarried folk? Shouldn't this waiting period then be applied to all US citizens wanting to marry?

Exactly! I complain about this process to my family and friends and when some of them bring up the topic of 'testing commitment' I ask why their own marriages were not tested first? What makes 2 US citizens a better fit than a US citizen and someone from another country? What difference does it make where my future spouse is from? Don't get me wrong, I can understand a slight delay for background checks and scans for visa fraud but the current process is absolutely unreasonable in scope and timeframe.

kitkat1 - Well one thing is for sure, if you are a military person (and this is NOT a knock against the military), USCIS does have some clue of how to expedite a petition. There is a K1 case that I stumbled across with infamously long Manila Embassy (120 - 150 day wait for an interview) with an unpresidented 75 day completion from petition to interview in 2005. Mind you that K1s through the Manila Embassy average more than twice that amount of time.

ALL - Should employers have the option of paying $1000 for an expedited process? Whether it's really expedited or not isn't my thing? I guess that one could also argue why don't citizens receive the same tax breaks as corporations? Maybe it's all relative and we are caught up in the midst of our own misery that nobody but us seems to care about.

I just wish someone with influence at least listened and investigate. Do something!!!

Again... just my thoughts...

This is a shallow perspective. I lived with my Fiance for over 3 years, on two different continents. The fact that individuals are married makes zero difference. Think shotgun wedding here.

A test of a relationship is time together.

Well let me tell you I sent a letter from my commander requesting expedition because of my deployment in November… I still haven’t heard from CSC and according to their website sense I was not notified in 72 hours after receipt it wasn’t approved. So don’t think that just because we are in the military that we catch a break… Granted I wasn’t being sent to OIF or OEF but a hostile environment where I could be killed or injured… Hell the army gives me combat pay and hazardous duty pay but I guess USCIS doesn’t really give a ####### if I get killed and my poor fiancée never had the chance to be with me or marry me before I got sent off.

Oh and if you jerks at the CSC are reading this? I risk my life for the citizens of this country and their freedom but don’t include yourselves in that list. :-D

No one doubts your intention to marry your fiancee. US government however sees fake marriages, engagements all the time. They doubt the intention of the alien fiancee. Unfortunately with an engagement their is no written or documentary proof of its validity. So how can it be evaluated if the engagment is real or not. Honest and good folks are lumped with with the same. I dont see how 3 mths waiting period is too long. Even colleges take months before they decide on an applicant. Jobs offers take a couple of weeks. More applicants then enough people to handle the task. so the extended waits.
