I am sure I have read in the past somewhere in this wonderful site about the proper way to respond to an RFE, but at present I cannot recall where.

What I am talking about is what you write on top of the page in responce to an RFE, meaning if you have to put the applicant's name and beneficiary's name, A_ number if known and the like so that the process is expedited. Also, do you include a copy of the original RFE.

Thanks,

Archie

Really depends on what the RFE is for. Include the requested information and a copy of the RFE and that should be fine.

Include the case or file number as well. Anything to help your response get married with your file.

The general guidelines from USCIS also cover RFE's:

http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/menuitem.5af9bb95919f35e66f614176543f6d1a/?vgnextoid=ff053d146a7ee010VgnVCM1000000ecd190aRCRD&vgnextchannel=fe529c7755cb9010VgnVCM10000045f3d6a1RCRD

They ask that you mark both envelope and cover letter (e.g., "Response to Request For Evidence"). They also ask that you include the RFE notice on top of the other documents you're submitting, and that you provide the receipt number and/or A#.
