My husband and I just received his interview date for AOS. We are going in on Sept. 5, 2006 and assume he will be granted his green card.

My question is this:

His Kenyan passport is about to expire and we want to get that taken care of as soon as he is approved for his green card. Will he be able to get a new passport for the US or does he need to apply for a new Kenyan passport and also, what about all of the documentation in his old passport (stamps for K-1 visa, etc.)??? :help:

What is the best way to handle this situation?

He can not get a US passport until he becomes a citizen.... he will need to renew his Kenyan passport for now... your K1 visa is now void so you dont need it anymore...

You may find that they return his old passport to him along with the new one... that is what they do for british passports...

My husbands passport expired a year ago and he went to the moroccan consolate and they sent it away for three months and returned both old and new passport to him. but when is F-1 visa expires he has to give the passport back. Or something wierd like that.
