Paul, you get all self-righteous and indignant whenever some body organization curtails the amount of allowable ####### in your food. You have in the past made the assertion. I think you are far too entrenched in this partisan mentality of yours. They are trying to make food healthier, not poorer. If that means you have to have less salt on your burger and no Dora The Explorer toy with your burger, then so be it, i'm sure you'll survive. You still have the option to be stupid, go home and dump as much salt on the burger as you want. You can even stop by the toy store on the way home and pick yourself up that little toy.

they aren't trying to make it healthier for one... If they wanted to do that, they could have just done that.

On top of that, McDonalds and every other fast food chain out there offers healthy choices AND substitutes for healthier items on kids meals other than fries and soda... So they have been playing their part in many ways.

That's not for government to dictate though in which what is 'healthy' at an establishment. That's for you as an individual to decide when making that purchase.

I'm ok with the government requiring establisments to publicly display nutritional information as they want them to, but I stop at being ok with it when the government starts making our choices for us. Which is what they are doing when they tell a business salt/fat content/calories/what can be served with a burger or not with a burger, etc.

This isn't about health though, it's about punishing the smart for the actions of the stupid.

I think advertising that specifically targets young children ought to be banned - McDonalds and their Happy Meals are an extension of that.

There's plenty of research out there about the psychological effects of advertising on particularly vulnerable target markets. Quite simply, it shouldn't be allowed.

I'd rather eat less. Steamed veggies are gross.

You think? I hadn't tried steamed until about 2-3 years ago, personally I think they taste better - unless of course your yardstick for taste involves frying.

No more toy ads for transformers, barbie, hot wheels, etc..

No more video game ads....

No more playschool playset ads...

No putt-putt ads

No more Chuck-E-Cheese ads...

etc...

Yup, I'm sure that would go over REAL WELL.
