i think that most of us would be refering to things like that link i posted. it shows when ppl got their noa1 and subsequently, when/if they have received their noa2. with exact dates and accurate real time lines.

it's not a rough idea, it's not some vague time line, they are actual dates and real people's time lines as they happen.

some people are the type to go and look for this info on their own (i generally hate asking for info if i think i can figure it out myself) while other people have no issue asking for help. you are the latter, nothing wrong with that, but sometimes people like myself that figured it out without asking get irked by the fact that it was an answer you could have easily gotten by paying attention.

not irked myself, just explaining

I don't kknow where you guys get the idea of five months...I have been reading a whole lot of the posts where these couples get their visas mostly after 6 or 7 months. It does not matter when you get NOA1 or NOA2, if you get your visa after 8 months, then 8 months is your timeline. In my understanding the I 129f (to be more specific) is not serving it's purpose. By the way is there any one out there who can tell us why they came with the I 129 petition? I am asking because its no difference now between the I 129 and the I 130. Infact, If I had to do it all over I would go for the I 130... It is less expensive with your partner getting their green card much sooner, and more. Think about it and do the math before reply. Again the uscis or whoever is responsible are not using the I 129 K 1 visa for it's original purpose. It's that simple.

The 5 months is the processing time that USCIS has set for adjuticating (approving or denying) petitions. The 5 month mark only refers to the first step of the process, and it does not refer to all of the parts of the process (all of the waiting we need to do).

August 23, 2010 - I-129 F package sent via USPS priority mail with delivery confirmation.

August 30, 2010 - Per Department of Homeland Security (DHS) e-mail, petition received and routed to California Service Center for processing. Check cashed. I-797C Notice of Action by mail (NOA 1) - Received date 08/25/2010. Notice date 08/27/2010.

After 150 days of imposed anxious patience...

January 24, 2011 - Per USCIS website, petition approved and notice mailed.

January 31, 2011 - Approval receipt notice (NOA 2) received by mail. Called NVC, given Santo Domingo case number, and informed that petition was sent same day to consulate.

Called Visa Specialist at the Department of State every day for a case update. Informed of interview date on February, 16 2011. Informed that packet was mailed to fiance on February, 15 2011.

February 21, 2011 - Fiance has not yet received packet. Called 1-877-804-5402 (Visa Information Center of the United States Embassy) to request a duplicate packet in person pick-up at the US consulate in Santo Domingo. Packet can be picked-up by fiance on 02/28.

March 1, 2011 - Medical exam completed at Consultorios de Visa in Santo Domingo.

March 9, 2011 at 6 AM - Interview, approved!

March 18, 2011 - POE together. JFK and O'Hare airports. Legal wedding: May 16, 2011.

Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you have imagined.

Can anyone :help:

My American fiance and I have been waiting since July 16th when we got our first NOA, and having filed with California, and their average time being 5 months, we thought we should have heard from them by now.

Can anyone else tell me their experience in regards to time between NOA 1and 2? I was hoping they'd contact us about an interview etc but so far, nothing.

Thanks

CSC is being slow! i just read another message saying about them delaying some people for 5 more months! trust me it's all cuz they have tons of applications but they will try to keep the time line going! keep the faith and it'll be ok! try calling them to check your status! and log on the website and get email updates!

A quick reply... it took almost the full time for us from Sept to Feb to get NOA2. In February we were given and RFE as they lost a passport photo. I think they finish up before they go past the allowed time :bonk:

My NOA1 is dated June 2nd and my papers have been touched 4 times, the last being November 3rd and still NO NOA2.. I called and was told give it another 2 weeks.. We are beyond frustrated! I see so many other who received their NOA1 around the same time and have received the NOA2, we are still waiting, hoping and praying for the best. I have called everyone I can think of and no one is of any help.. Immigration is their own island governed by whomever and whatever guides them! Sorry to vent.. God Bless Us All!

i think natrav is right. people need to be a little more calm and less personal when answering some of these questions. many people here are either not from the US or not used to dealing with government bureacracy or both. yes the questions may be 'dumb' or able to be found with some internet research, but not all are as good with internet research as other. and this person is right. its much more reassuring that others tell you they've been through it or explaining something, other than just reading, blank faceless stats from an at times vague government website. if it bothers you then click past the thread. let someone else answer. there's thousands on the site. if you dont answer, someone else will.

we got our noa1 last JUNE 25, 2010 and here we are still waiting...all we have to do is pray for the best...wait and wait and wait till noa2 arrives. my fiancee and i are heartbroken everyday. hope they could approve our petition soon. so depress right now because this is our second filling. the first one was denied because we lack documents. we are waiting and working for this for almost 2 years now and i hope we could be together already. my fiancee called a while ago and they told her that we must wait for another four (4) months because we refilled...oh boy! hope this is not true and we could get our noa2 soon. hope my wife will never surrender and our love will be strong as ever...

They're not talking about the whole visa taking 5 months, they're taking about the time between the NOA1 and NOA2, which USCIS advises can take 5 months.

The I-129F and I-130 are not visas, they are forms. There are many reasons why someone would prefer to do the K1 instead of the CR-1. There was a thread about it awhile ago and most people agreed it was because they didn't want to be separated for their first year of marriage. And the visas and their processing are a bit different, it is not "exactly the same."

here is my point: I 130 leads to a complete green card for your spouse with a timeline about 12 months.

I 129 leads to only a temporary visa for your spouse with a timeline of about 7 months not

to mention more $$$.

When you do the math it comes out that the K 1 visa is kind of lame, that's why I would go I 130 if I had to do it all over again. I heard some I 130s get processed much sooner than the I 129s. The longer they stretch the timeline for the I 129, the less sense it makes.

well look at it THIS way,in I-130 you will receive greencard and EAD right away,BUT you have to prove a bona fide marriage,in I-129F,its just a relationship.a lot of people couldnt prove a marriage for whatever reason ( the USC unable to reside in their country for long periods of time, etc ) if it came down to it.thats why its so popular
