P.S. Should I just put all the forms together and staple them or paper clip each sets of form? or Put them in separate smaller envelopes and put all the small envelope into 1 big envelope? Sounds silly right? does it even matter?

Hello! You also need a letter from your employer or paystubs for the past 6 months to show that you are currently employed. You also need SEVEN pictures of your wife and only one of you. As far as envelopes, anything neat is the best way, as long as they are in the same big envelope and sent as one package in the mail. Good luck!!

I am no expert, but here is what i think:

Yes 7 pictures of your wife, and one of yourself, also dont forget to writte the name in pencil at the back of the pictures.

And also yes you need pay stubs for last 6 months and employment letter.

I think your wife needs 2xG325. One goes with I-130(your application) and one goes with I485(her application). So a total of 3, 2 for your wife and one for you.(i'm not sure if this also applies to your wife if she is canadian...but i think it does)

Also, EACH form needs to be treated separately. So for example you might need 3 passport copies...one for I-485, one for I-131, and one for I-765, and etc. and if you only put in one they might give you a RFE(request for evidence). That was just an example, so you get an ideea.

To reply on your P.S.....i noticed people do it very in many ways. What i would recommend you do is take every form and put the suporting documents together with the form, then paper clip it, then get on to the next form.

For example:

I-130(that is your petition) so it should be separated from hers, so you attach all the required documents that go along with this form, then if you dont want to use a cover letter it's ok, it's not required by the uscis, but you put the pictures and the money order or personal check right in the front using a paper clip.

then the I-485 basically includes all the other ones(G-325, I-765, I-131, I693) but again each of these also need separate documentation that goes with them. If you want i can give you my cover letters where i organized everything ...this way you can get an ideea.

Also, you need to make two separate checks. One for $1010 and one for $355. They go with different forms and as silvana.toma mentionned, these forms need to be treated separately.

Also, about the pay stubs and letter of employment. I had the same debate before I sent my petition. If you read the instructions carefully. It says; "You may submit this information for the most recent three tax years, pay stub(s) from the most recent six months, and/or a letter from your employer if you believe any of these items will help you qualify."

I decided against it and sent it without any letter of employment of pay stubs. We'll see what happens. :innocent:

*edit*

Just my personal opinion, but now that I read the instruction carefully, I think that this part of the instructions is the most confusing all all the forms. Good thing they send RFEs, and don't just deny outright when something is missing! :bonk:

Kitty, I think I pointed out to you on the 864 main page it says

All sponsors must submit the following documentation with their I-864:

Proof of current employment or self employment

Link here

http://www.uscis.gov/i-864

Agree with everything else. (I didn't do multiple copies of passports and it was no problem... I believe it says "unless submitted elsewhere" in there.) But it sure doesn't hurt.

I see what you mean. I based my opinion on the fact that it wasn't in the actual I-864 instructions. At any rate, I will post it if I get an RFE for this particular issue. :)

They really are confusing, but most of us just read and re-read them ad nauseam until we can quote them by heart hehe. Obsessing is rarely good, but this is one time when it is!

Looks all good - but I wanted to throw in my two cents/experience regarding the payment.

There is no right or wrong way though, as long as you have the correct fees covered - underpaying is a reason for them to reject an application/petition.

Upon reading many threads here as well as told by immigration attorney advice ONE check to cover the AOS package as well as I-130 petition of US citizen is enough.....and sure enough, they did cash ours when we sent in my package lately.

Good luck on your journey :)

10/13/2010 - Mailed in The Package (AOS, I-765, I-130)

10/17/2010 - USPS confirms delivery to USCIS

12/23/2010 - EAD Approved and Card on its way - Email notification received *yay*

01/03/2011 - WOOOHOOO ...EAD Card in Hand!

01/04/2011 - Oh boy....Received Interview Letter today - February 3rd is the day! :)

Just some clarification... I am a US naturalized citizen. Would I have an Alien number? I see two numbers on my ceritificate. One is a 7 alphabet/number and then below it there is something that saids " ??? registration no" which is a 9 alphabet/number code.

Thanks!

Nevermind. I figured it out.

The certificate number is the digits on the top right hand corner following "No."

The Alien number is the "registration no." followed by digits.
