Well I just got an RFE after our interview for AOS. I need a co-sponsor and had a few questions regarding the I-864 they are requesting

For part 1.

1. do I put my co-sponsor's name? and a.through f. do I select D.? She will be the only co-sponsor.

Just verifying...

Part 4.

DO i put all the co-sponsor's information?

number 19. do I check box one and 2 for co-sponsor?

Part 5.

g. My mom is my co-sponsor. does she check here? we aren't filling out an I-864A?

Part 6.

My co-sponsor fills this out correct?

Basically anything that says "my current this that and whatever" should be my co-sponsor's info right?

If you live at the same address as your mom then she completes an I-864A and includes all needed documentation. If you do not live at the same address then mom completes an I-864 and includes all needed documentation.

You will also need to redo your I-864 to include the information about the joint (co) sponsor.

The RFE only says I-864 for the co-sponsor. so I would have to redo my I-864 and make the co-sponsor do an I-864A?

this is all that's being requested

1.Affidavit of support (I864) with supporting documents for joint sponsor. be sure to include proof of joint sponsor's lawful permanent resident status or united states citizenship or current passport for (co-sponsor)

2. income tax returns for co-sponsor for 2009

You only have to change yours if Mom lives in the same house with you. Then you would add her income to yours on #24 as a household member. Then she would do I-864A, basically agreeing to let you use her income.

If Mom lives in a separate house, then she fills out I-864. All the info is as if she is answering the questions. She is the only joint sponsor.

So all I have to do is have mom fill out an I-864A and I just change #24 in my I-864?

You still haven't said where Mom lives. That makes a difference. Can't say yes or no to your question until you share that bit of information.

And don't forget Mom has to supply proof of her citizenship as well as proof of her income no matter what form she fills out.

yes mom lives at home. I think I may have filled everything out correctly.

correct me if I'm wrong. as of the I-864 and I-864A...

I-864 I added my mom's income to my own and made the proper adjustments to income. I also plugged her names in to the areas where it asks.

I-864A I just filled it out according to the instructions.
