What steps to take? Suggestions?

Unless you're a terrorist yourself, you have nothing to be worried about. Jordan is one of the safer places in the middle east and the Kingdom is actually real allies to the US

St. Louis is no longer an International Airport. I think she would need to go through another airport then change planes to get to St. Luis as I did on my trips to China from St. Louis.

I thought you might like to know, Jordan is not so bad a place for Americans to go. I know of plenty of American women in the Middle East and North Africa forum who have traveled to Jordan alone and had no trouble. It wouldn't be like you're going to Yemen or something. In fact, for a man, I'd say it's just as safe as going to the Philippines. So don't completely rule it out

You can accompany her to the interview (well some embassy's allow it) but only she will be interviewed in a private room.

I just want to state for myself that personally I'm not afraid to travel to Jordan although I have stated that I am. It is more so my girlfriend more worried than I am. Only thing that really bothers me is that I would feel better if she could pick me up from the airport but from what she has told me she can't go to the airport. I would just hate to get lost in a country I don't know. However, I feel completely blessed to have her and I would do whatever it takes to see her and for her to be with me. She is very worth it to me.

If you do decide to go to Jordan, may I suggest that you swing over to the Middle East and North Africa section of the regional forums, and ask around about what the area near the airport is like, and what you'd encounter in Jordan from people who've experienced it firsthand. The ladies (and a few gentlemen) of MENA can be very helpful about stuff like this, and I'm sure have a wealth of knowledge that could assist you Good luck to you!
