Hi everyone i was wondering if anyone had any advise for my situation. i had my interviw 8 months ago and was told everything was 100% and we would have are visa in 2 weeks but got nothing, when i email them i get the auto generated "pending ap" and i got my congressmen and senetor to inquire and the embassy wont respond to them. i was wondering could all this be cuz i had a proxy marrige? my SIL got her visa after 1 month and so did many people i knoe including people from this site, from the same embassy. However my cousin who also had a proxy is also in ap and has been for about 6 months. so if thats the case i should just pull the I-130 go overseas re-do our marrige conract and start over correct? let me knoe what you guys think

also has there been anyone who has gone a proxy and how did it turn out for you?

Hello

Well i guess that's what you have to do, meet your spouse in person then file the petition cause then it will look like a real marriage

Good Luck

Did you meet your spouse after the proxy marriage? For a proxy marriage to be valid for immigration purposes, it needs to be consumated after the wedding and before the petition is filed. If that did not happen, and/ or if you didn't provide proof of this, it sounds like the embassy found out, or is suspecting the marriage was not consumated, and is trying to find out for sure. Of course, considering where you are from and muslim, it is also fairly common to be stuck in AP, so it could be co-incidence.

Well i don't think it has to do anything with religion but with each particular case, so a couple that has been married for years, has children together, will have an easier process than a couple who has never met in person before, however being with your spouse before you attempt any petitions makes the process much more easier and you get to know each other more in person.

Good Luck MuslimQueen

As I remember from previous posts, you were not actually eligible to petition for your husband when you did because you had not met him after your proxy marriage correct? Now if this was the case, you should never have been approved in the first place.

Now, pending AP - this is common for people from certain countries but could be complicated by the fact that you had your proxy marriage and was not eligible to petition

Your SIL, did she have a proxy marriage as well? Did she meet her husband prior to filing?

Good luck

One of the functions of AP is to ensure the validity of the relationship. If you have had little contact with him then your relationship will be harder to prove. They may never be able to prove a relationship to their satisfaction unless you two visit a couple of times. It may be hard to arrange but it may be necessary to get the desired outcome for your visa. Especially if your husbands family has a habit of arranging proxy marriages.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

Then they are taking their time making sure that you have a valid relationship and that your husband has only good intent on wanting to come here. Things that are perfectly obvious to us are a complete mystery to those people.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.
