I had my POE in Champlain, NY last Friday and the officer gave me back one of the 2 sealed envelopes that I had gotten from my medical at Medisys in Montreal. I asked him what it was for and he said it was for me... It is sealed and stamped "Immigrant visa medical exam. Do not open." I doubt very much it's a souvenir ! There seems to be a cd case in there. I have read numerous treads but don't recall ever reading about that. Does anyone know what it's for?

Thanks!

Hmm, you received two envelopes from your medical and they weren't taken by the Consulate when you had your interview? The medical report is supposed to be inside the brown sealed envelope you received from the Consulate that states 'DO NOT OPEN'. It sounds like the second envelope may contain the CD of your x-ray and possibly a copy of the immunization worksheet. It is surprising that it says "DO NOT OPEN" as those are basically for your personal records.

Regardless, as you entered on a K-1 visa you will be getting married and filing for AOS shortly afterwards. One of the requirements of the AOS is the immigration medical with completed immunization schedule. As I see it, you basically have several options: you can open the envelope and see what is inside and if it is part of the documentation that is supposed to have been forwarded to the Consulate, then you can decide whether or not it needs to be included with the AOS; you can not open it and include it with your AOS application; you can make an appointment at a local USCIS office and ask them to open it in front of you and see if it is something that you need to include with the AOS or can keep for your own records.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

I did turn in everything I had been given by Medisys at the time of my interview. Then, at the POE, I gave the large sealed envelope as I was supposed to. The remaining, smaller one was given back to me at the POE at the same time as I was handed my passport before I drove off.

We already got married and I need to file for AOS asap so I can get back to work (same employer who cannot afford to have me out of commission for too long). I read about the vaccination dilemma, and as I was trying to determine if I should see a civil surgeon to get my vaccination record transcribed on the I-693 or take a chance that my medical information had not been lost, I remembered the envelope. I guess I'll call Medisys on Monday and ask them what it is. Any other thoughts?

THe Xray CD is not needed for AOS, I had my medical at medisys and when I went to my interview they gave me back the cd at the interview. Told me to keep it for myself or give it to my DR in the US when I got one. ( DR in US told me the Xray CD is useless to them if they needed to see my lungs they need a new one not an old one )

Thank you so much to the two of you!!!

I just found my I-693 lol... I sent my packet because I was angry with the civil surgeon messing around with me. They finally filled it out for me after arguing that a friend of mine just had one filled out by them for 35$ ( they kept saying they didnt do it ) Then they filled one out for me for the same price. I never got an RFE but I got the I-693 just incase anyways.

When I sent my AOS stuff I included a letter stating my medical dates and that it was still valid and should all be included. As well as a copy of the vaccination sheet medisys had given me PLUS a copy of the actual bill from medisys.
