I lost my passport and my I-94 which was attached to it, my green card interview will be in 5 days...5 days!

I am freaking out, please advice if my case can be denied, what should I do? I submitted copied of the passport and I-94 to them but I don't have any with me, however, I do have the numbers and dates of each one.

Please, if someone already had the same problem, let me know.

I deeply appreciate your help.

You probably have to reschedule. They need the passport at the interview. Call and see what they can tell you.

AOS can be denied for a number of reasons, anytime, but I'm fairly sure it wont' be denied because you lost your passport.

That said, it's kind of bizarre that you lost it. Okay, if you're strolling though Bangkok at night or leave it in your hotel room while clubbing in Miami, but other than that I would assume you'd keep it in a very safe place where it belongs. Maybe you just misplaced it?

There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all . . . . The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English-Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian-Americans or Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality, than with the other citizens of the American Republic . . . . There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else.

I don't think your case can be denied... i would certainly hope not as I'm sure you're not the first person to have their passport lost/stolen.

If you have a copy of your passport that's good. If it's lost you will probably need to show USCIS a copy of your expedited request for a new passport and/or your report of it being lost/stolen... I doubt very much they'll be understanding if you say "I just can't find it"... they will most likely need you to show that you have done EVERYTHING you can to get a new one.

They will most likely proceed with the interview BUT will also likely issue you an RFE for presentation of your passport.

I suggest calling the 1800 number and speaking with a "tier 2 human" as Darnell calls them to ask for their advice.

**Note - I say "most likely" up above because honestly I don't know how it'll go. I would most DEFINITELY do anything/everything you can to show you've tried to locate it and obtain a new one but first of all I'd call the 1800 number and ask their opinion. Good luck.

Thank you folks for helping, I found a copy of my passport and I-94, I applied for a new passport at Brazilian consulate, my husband went to immigration office and Was told the most import is the I-94, once I have the number they can track it. We will see, I decided not to reschedule the appointment, I will come back and tell how everything went.

Thanks!

Just to keep u guys updated, My interview went very smooth, they didn't make a big deal about the passport, the agent was cool with the police report only, he just asked how we met and then the stamp! green card in 2 weeks! Party time!

That's really good :D Congrats!

I entered the country on a B2 and also lost my passport with my I-94 stapled to it. I have copies of my passport, but no copies of my I-94, just the number. Do you guys think that just the number is enough proof of lawful entry?

Thanks
