So my wife received her EAD yesterday and while her K-1 was active we forgot about applying for SSN. She went to the Social Security office this morning and they said they couldn't verify her EAD in their system and that it'd take 2 days-4 weeks to verify with USCIS...they gave her a letter though that because she applied for one that she could start working...is this normal?

She's had a position lined up with a Credit Union for 2 weeks now and they've been patient with her so far because she's kept them updated on the progress, but to work at a C.U. they need to do a credit check first...we're not sure they'll be willing to wait another week or two for a SSN. Basically...when they say up to 4 weeks...is it really going to take that long to verify that it's a real EAD? I mean...it's stamped all over with Homeland Security stuff...has anyone else had this problem?!

Could even take longer, or they could possibly not be able to verify it. Need to find out why they couldn't verify her status on the intitial verification, and did they submit the secondary electronic verification request.
