Rove is remarkable in some ways but a "genius" would not have let Bush take the unanswered trashing that he took for the last 2-3 years he was in office.

A genius does not help the opposition throw members of your own team under the bus.

Needless to say Rush has a rich history of being the no.1 cheerleader for Bush as he destroyed the party.
