So my wife got through her immigrant visa interview with no issues. The embassy staff told her she would receive her visa within 10 days. The next day she gets an email stating her visa requires administrative processing and gives zero information. I call the embassy and they can't tell me anything except that it may take days, weeks, or even years to resolve and there is nothing I can do. I've been told this is for a security background check because my wife has my last name which is a very common spanish name. My wife is from a german farm town next to an air force base with proof she has a clean police record in germany. I'm really hating life right now. I hate the state department. We really need less government! All these security checks do nothing to keep us more safe. My wife can come to the US as a tourist without going through this garbage, how does this red tape do anything then?? I'm also in the Air Force and I can't even take leave right now to go see her. The AF is keeping me stuck in the US and the DOS is keeping my wife out of the US.

I wrote my senator.. I hope he can help but I doubt it.

I'm just venting. I wish I could punch something

Yep. We feel your pain. The system really sucks, big time. I also don't feel any safer in the US just because people have to take off their shoes before entering an airplane to the US. Just more angry and the tourists are pretty much fed up with it and taking their vacations somewhere else. I hear this constantly from business associates who come over here reluctantly. It's all a ridiculous game to pretend the Government is keeping us safe. Complete B.S.

There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all . . . . The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English-Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian-Americans or Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality, than with the other citizens of the American Republic . . . . There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else.

President Teddy Roosevelt on Columbus Day 1915

Welcome to the AP waiting room!

My husband got it at his interview on Aug 24. But at least they told us while we were still at the embassy.

Seems they are doing alot of this yes you are approved and then a few days later no you are in AP.

This is the most frustrating step of all for us. I don't know if I should plan a trip back to visit or just wait or what. This is day 75.

I contacted my senator and congressman and all the embassy will tell them is that it should finish in less than 5 months.

GOOD LUCK to you!

Almost Same happened to my wife. She had interview on 2nd in india, she was told visa is approved and wait for visa in week. Not they say she is still in some kind of processing. No clue what it might be. Called DOS and they say no longer visas are issued on same day now and consulate verifies documents again.

Its really frustrating VJ family and i know how you feel guy's, we been to that process and give to the embassy all the documents that they ask to my fiance,1st they give my fiancee a Blue slip 221g and it said at the botton of that slip that if my fiancee completed all the document's they will generally issue her visa within 5-10 days.so we submit the document that they ask from ask and then theycall for her 2nd interview (and the result was)they told her that our relationship is not bona fide and they send back to USCIS our application for review last Oct.9 guys i need help and advice is this our end. i missed her so much.

JUST FINISHED AP!! such a relief that it only took 2 weeks. THANK GOD! Good luck to everyone else still in AP. It sucks and isn't right. I would like to work in the DOS one day and try to change all this BS.

mkl what evidence did you submit with your original USCIS app? How did the interviews go?

I really went overboard for submitting documents proving our relationship. I think it helped avoiding any of those problems.
