hi guys , please give me some ideals on how to prepare my wife for that visa interview. i can use all the advices that you guys can come up with . i was in Vietnam for 3 weeks in September , it was fun driving around on her scooter . central Vietnam is a great place to learn how to drive scooter , not like in Saigon where i have to say a small prayer every time i have to cross a street lol. now what if my wife dont pass that interview then what do i do ... fill out another visa petition for her right away or wait for hcmc to send my petition back to uscis then do a rebuttal?

If she fail the interview, they will give her a blue sheet explaining why they fail her. You have a chance to response to them. If they satisfy with your response, they will pass her. If not, they will place her in AP.

Regarding preparation, I printed out the interview questions from this site and do mock interviews with my wife.

First things first, the best thing you can do is to ask her questions about you, things you talk about, your town, your friends, everything that a couple would talk about, and get her to be confident, and not scared. The fact is that many people pass, and many people fail, those that fail are generally the ones that did not prepare as good as they should have because they thought it was easy, and a few did prepare, but got a bad CO that was going to deny no matter what. In HCMC you roll the dice, that is the best way to describe it. So just go there prepared, make sure she knows what she has and where it is, so that when they ask for it she can go straight to it, and tell her confidence confidence confidence.

Second, if they fail her and you file the next day you will probably fail again. You must first figure out why you failed, it will be on the blue slip, and then you must be able to disprove each and every one of their reasons. If you dont, then the same thing could happen again. The other problem that might arise is that if you refile again and are not ready to disprove what they said they might issue a NOID and if during your chance for a rebuttal you can not change their mind then they could issue a p6 marker which means you would have almost no chance of ever getting her to the US because they think it was only for fraud, and you could not disprove it.

Hope this helps Jerome and Binh

Well, we all love to help each other out here on VJ but first of all You need a Timeline. We don't know what you're filing (k or cr1). It would be helpful if you can provide that. I think the number 1 redflag is the amount of time you know each other and follow the Vietnamese tradition. Those two are the reasons they got us pretty bad. How many trips have you made to Vietnam? I would suggest at least 2 and last at least 1 month. If you're already have your appointment date then it's okay. There are many questions that they ask about you that she needs to know. Do some research on this Forum. The Vietnam forum is a great place to do some research. From how much your rent to your friends and where they work are some things you need to look at. For us, they ask my wife about the weather of my State and where does my friend work. It's rediculous but you need to be ready. Do some research on here and write down all of the questions that being ask by the C.O to other vj members. I'm going to do a little bit of that now because I have an attorney this time so it takes a little weight off of my chest. Oh yeah, get your Timeline for VJ and of course a timeline of relationship for the C.O. Good luck. I DON'T WANNA TELL YOU ABOUT WHAT HAPPEN AFTER A FAIL INTERVIEW. Just think positive and if it doesn't work then I can tell you what to do after that. I've been through it and maybe I can give you some pointers.

Goood luckkkkk man.

Make sure she knows a lot about you and your family and friends and the area you live in. Mine knew all this pretty good but I made sure she was able to pronounce the names correctly. When they do the interview it helps to be able to say the correct name to where they understand it. They may ask about hobbies and what foods too and stuff like that. Show her on the map where the area you live in in relation to the state and country and talk about areas sights and weather. Google helps on that a lot. They may ask about any marriage plans and whether any kids are planned. Also be very prepared for any trick questions they may throw at her.(As an example they ask my fiancee what is the biggest fish I ever caught when she told them I fish. She just said simply that she had no way of knowing that. They also ask her who I go golfing with. She knew it was my best friend usually but said that and in addition she said she had no idea as she never went with me.) They will want to know what level of schooling and the schools you went to. Sometimes they ask the name of company you work at and rarely but sometimes the name of boss. It can get long but you get the drift. Just make sure she knows you well.

My then fiancee and I started a month before to get ready and nightly I went over my whole life from young to present with as much detail as I could. One night we went from the very earliest age I could remember to the age I started school at 6. Then each session I said from 6 to 10 and so on. As for me I was married once before long before and she asked me to never bring it up but one night I told her we had to do it and thoroughly. She didn't want to but after saying there was no choice she agreed. I went from the beginning of meeting her to getting married to the divorce with every detail I could. I personally do not think it needs to be gone over that thoroughly but I did so anyway. I wanted her to know me well and ready for any and all surprised question. (surprisingly they did ask about my ex wife and she just said she didn't want to talk about my previous life with another woman and was adamant and surprisingly they moved on and no more was said.)

I can tell you how I prepped my wife back then. I told her "Study hard the cheating Q&As, just like most Vnese doing when they try to pass the Citizenship test. Then count on luck! You only get older so try to pass the interview as quickly as possible! The nail salons only get crowder everyday and the sooner you get here to the States, the quicker we can achieve that American dream"

I guess that speech brought enough motivation to make her get the Pink slip on her first try.

Just remember, life over there in VN is NOT real! Your money will be worth a LOT less once you get back over here. Back to reality, cowboy!

I am not sure whether I should laugh or be angry. But whatever works, right?
