Ive just made aware yesterday that Police Force office do not give certificate to non-Singapore citizen anymore

starting 18th of October 2010.

Wasted my time going there, and was only give a piece of paper saying why and what is the alternatives and also they said all embassies have been made aware.

Im not a citizen, but has been a Permanent Resident for about 4 years now.

The other alternatives suggested is to go to Singapore Academic Law and get a Commissioner of Oaths to get you sworn for a fee of $20++

I sent an email to singapore usembassy asking for an advice, but still no reply.

Anyone has heard about this? and know what other options do I have?

TIA

hi there!! I need a police clearance from Singapore too, but I made a research that they are no longer issue with non-Singaporean. Since it states there that there is alternative ways which is Statutory Declarations, do I need to travel in Singapore just to apply for it? thank you,I appreciate your answer...

I'm in the same boat...actually, my wife is going to need clearances from both HK and Singapore, as she worked in both countries. And, reading their website, it now says they only do this for Citizens of Singapore now.

Singapore Police

It was complicated enough before, but this looks like a real challenge. We all need to get the right information on this one.

see the link below regarding the effective date that the Singapore gov't changed policy for issuing a police clearance.

http://www.spf.gov.sg/epc/cncc_notice.htm

this is confusing since this is one of the requirements,we need to know if the US Embassy here in the Philippines already informed for this changes. and it states there that there is an alternative way by having a statutory declaration, the thing is where are we going to get it and from my understanding it should be in Singapore through the Commissioners of Oath or qualified legal practitioners.

need some help!!!! :help:

hi there,

i think you better call or go to embassy personally to inquire about this matter, i think embassy is up-to-date with the informations, but better clarify with them, since when i went their to request for letter which is one of the requirements of Singapore CNCC before, the girl i spoke with at the embassy window X knew what i need and even she was the one who gave me a printed requirements found in the SIngapore police website in getting CNCC. hope this info helps! I have enquired Singapore US embassy

and Ive asked them so many questions, alternatives, opotions i Have and advice...etc

BUT

they only replied me in one line:

"Unfortunately, if a country’s authority has stopped issuing such clearance, there is nothing much you can do but to accept it as it. Thank you. "

I was like....er,... what does that even mean?

I replied:

I can accept, but can NVC accept?

it's been 3 days no answer -.-

I approached a layer to get me a Statutory Declaration, for 20 bucks.

I cant really advise you all, (outside Singapore), what to do. To fly here to make statutory declaration makes notmuch sense.

U can just approach a lawyer and make one. Because its a voluntary action, which just to declare in front of legal person that U COMMIT NO CRIMINAL ACTION IN SINGAPORE.

thats it. If you look at Police Certificate template, thats basically what it says.

I will let u know if I have more answers.

Hi I just received another reply from Singapore Consulate:

My follow-up question after the initial question was:

"So what about the visa requirement which requires this? Does this mean I do not need Police Certificate from Singapore anymore?

I can accept this but would the NVC accept this? "

The reply that i got says:

"Yes, since this is the what the Singaporean authority is doing. "

I can forward you this email to whoever needs this. Let me know. PM me.

I can safely say, you are not required to have Singapore Police Certificate anymore (IF you are non-Singaporean citizen), this is latest development, Please make sure you have exhausted every source in confirming this. As for me, I will print this email as reference.

Hope this helps someone out there.

First, thanks for passing this information along. It certainly helps us. That's pretty much how I think this issue has to play out. You can't provide the NVC with something that cannot be obtained. There are other countries to don't provide any type of clearances either and the NVC has to deal with that somehow in those cases. Bottom line is that there is nothing we can do about it and as long as we provide the documentary proof that such a clearance is NOT available, then that should be sufficient.

Again, thank you for your followup.

I sent an email as well. I all got back was this very short response.

"Since the Singaporean authority has stopped issuing such documents, this office can do nothing but accept that as the fact."

Of course in my question I asked about the Oath process and they did not address it. I am assuming that we will not need this but hopefully we can get feedback from somone after they go through the process. Is anybody going for there interview soon?

Hello everyone! Here I am again. I just want to make sure that I am well prepared for interview. I recently requested a letter from CNCC office Singapore that they no longer issuing a CNCC to non-Singaporeans. I got the reply below.

Dear Ms Macy,

We refer to your preceding mail.

2 Please be in formed that The Singapore Police Force has cease issuing the Certificate of No Criminal Conviction (CNCC) to non-Singapore Citizens with effect from 18 Oct 2010. Please see theNOTIFICATION on our website at www.spf.gov.sg/epc/cert_issued.htm

3 You will have to check with the Foreign/UAE authorities/embassy what are their requirements.

4 Applicants who do not qualify for a CNCC, may consider an alternative of applying for a Statutory Declaration through the Commissioner of Oath or qualified legal practitioner or lawyer to declare that they do not have criminal record during the period of their staying in Singapore. However, please note that this is subjected to the acceptance by the requesting authority,

5 Should you require further assistance or clarification, please contact the Certificate of No Criminal Conviction (CNCC)/Records Office at telephone numbers (+65) 64358409 or (+65) 64358410.

Regards

Nurzawani Hassan (Ms)

for Head Criminal Records

Criminal Investigation Department

CNCC Office

They offered an alternative but the US consulate is specifically asking for Police Certificate and if not available then just proof that they are not issuing anymore will be enough. I agree with you!
