the funny thing is the blaming either way. both parties knew what was happening would end in a crash, yet noone did anything about it. now its the other guys fault.

eta: now that it has happened & the dems are mostly in control. like it or not, the problem of fixing it is on their plate.

Kind of hard to actually address a problem when you have a group of petulent children hen pecking and doing everything possible to hold things up. The republicans will pull a DeMint and hold up any legislature they don't want to deal with. They may not have a majority in the senate, but their majority in the house of representatives will ensure that they can dig their feet in and say no to every piece of legislature.

What will they do?

Discuss.

They will punish their enemies. Who are their enemies you ask.

Got a mirror?

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

Senate Floor Speech on Public Debt

There is only so much government can actually do to improve the economy and they have already done quite a bit. The government cannot force buisness to hire, invest or innovate. It can create incentives to do so, but its up to businesses to take advantage of it.

The measures taken have helped. Not as quickly or as much as some people would like. The economy is growing and we are gaining jobs, albeit slowly.

We have sort of a chicken and an egg problem, business need consumer demand to hire, consumer need jobs to create demand. In previous recession, a large part of the recovery was due to the ability for consumers to go into debt to create demand. This time around, many people are tapped out.

Can the government do anything about that? Kind of, it could create jobs to boost consumer demand. But unfortunately, this time around, people are probably paying down debt instead of buying more stuff.

There are businesses that are growing, but unfortunately, not as much in the US market.

They never really had a filibuster proof senate. But I wouldn't expect a political neophyte like you to understand nuance.

PWNED!

I KNEW I could count on a fvcktard DEM to admit that the Repubs never did and never could be the party of "NO". The reason they didn't pass things before was there was too much infighting between the fvcktard DEMS. While they were trying to buy off Mary Landrieu or Ben Nelson to get votes from their own party, the Repubs just sat back and laughed. What a bunch of ne'er do wells.

Now it is the DEMs turn to watch.

I'll keep your post for future times when Dems claim the Repubs were the "party of NO"
