I need you guys' opinions: My 5 months mark is on 12/24 and I am planning on mailing out a letter to a senator on the 27th. Is that a good idea or should I wait a bit? I'm assuming I won't get a response from his office until a few weeks into January, anyway...

Thoughts?

I emailed my senator 3 days before my 5 month mark and got a response from their office 2 days later. They have already contacted USCIS on my behalf and it takes 24-48 hours for USCIS to get back to them. I don't think it hurts contacting your senator now. Most have an online point of contact so it makes it very quick and easy. Good luck!

LOL. Thanks, man. :)

quote name='dvs98' timestamp='1292887828' post='4361947]

Lol no worries i didn't even know what it was until that day i called them. Service request i guess they give them some kind of notice that it's overdue and needs to be looked at but like i said who knows if it actually does anything for you. I haven't ever done this before so all new to me. She also said that they have 30 days to respond and on the first day after the 30 i call back and it gets even further escalated and not to wait any longer than the 30 days either she like stressed the next day after 30 call back if no response. Waiting another 30 days is def not appealing at all already feels like its been ages :(

So my congressman contacted USCIS @ TSC and they said they are processing the petitions 30-160 days from when they received them. They told the congressman's representative that they received my file on 11/18, which is weird, because it was transferred on 11/03/10. This means they are counting the days from 11/18, which I think is unfair, because that's not the date of my transfer notice. The congressional rep has to abide by those wait rules, so I guess it'll be up to another 60 days before anything can be done. She said at the least it's good that she inquired on the case because sometimes it gets them moving faster.

I sincerely hope that my application, along with ALL TSC filers are approved before their 60 day mark!

I do not see any point in contacting senators. I got replied from senators stating that it takes 60 to 90 days to process after case has been transferred. I called uscis and they opened a service request for me. I think service request might be the best options at this point. Let me know your thoughts on this issue.

Depends on your Senator or Congressional representative. Some are better than others and in fact some are as useless as feathers on a frog.....well really, it depends on the quality of their staffers and the contacts they have cultivated inside of USCIS.

More than likley they started from the date you was first touched

after they transfered it Nov 3rd so they start initial processing

of your I-130 which make it March 18th 2011 if what your saying

about 30 to 160 days. So some where betwen January 18th and March

18th you should be approved if what your saying hold true what

they said. 60 days after Nov 18th is January 18th or later

plan on your approval.

Good Luck :):):)

From the Dictionary...EXPEDITE...

To speed up the progress of; accelerate...

Our case was approved for expedite on November 26th - and we still have heard nothing. My wife just spoke to the USCIS - curiously, the TSC fax number is no longer available to the officers at the call centre.

Just what is going on there? It's like banging your head against a brick wall......even our senator can get no info...UGHHHheadbonk.gif

So I have (yet another) question: if I call USCIS and get through to an actual person, do I just ask for a service request? Or do I have to beat around the bush first?

as soon as you get their automated voice mail choose English as the language you want and then hit *1 this will take you straight through to customer service, then you will have to listen to their STUFF.....which will be a total waste of your time.....when they are done, tell them you need to speak with an officer or a level 2 person. open a service request immediately if you don't have one already. I am absolutely DISGUSTED with the way this whole Texas thing is being handled. We have been totally screwed for time I am certain. Gary and I have been approved for EXPEDITE and the 23rd is our five month date. THis is giving me an ulcer. Good luck to you.

I will do just that, thanks, Val.

And I have half a mind to fly out to Dallas and start picketing outside the building until I get arrested. At least I'd get on the news- maybe!

So I have (yet another) question: if I call USCIS and get through to an actual person, do I just ask for a service request? Or do I have to beat around the bush first?

I will call USCIS and ask for the "service request", as application is out of the processing time. Have a pen and paper ready to note employee ID and service request number. TSC can not do service request by itself. It has to go through national customer service first. I have found information on website below:

USCIS Update: Case Status Inquiries with the Service Centers

WASHINGTON - U. S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has issued instructions on making inquiries with the agency's four Service Centers. Customers, community-based organizations and liaison groups should follow this guidance when inquiring about case related issues. This new process standardizes customer service and streamlines processing of customer inquiries at USCIS Service Centers. The step-by-step instructions are as follows:

Step 1: Contact the National Customer Service Center (NCSC) at 1-800-375-5283. The NCSC can assist customers, community-based organizations and liaison groups with case related inquiries. Before calling the NCSC please have available your receipt number, alien registration number, type of application filed and date filed. During your call we recommend that you take note of the following information:

-The name and/or id number of the NCSC representative

-The date and time of the call

-Any service request referral number, if a service referral on a pending case is taken

Step 2: If more than 30 days have passed since you contacted the NCSC and the issue has not been resolved or explained you can email the proper USCIS Service Center to check the status of your case.

-California Service Center: csc-ncsc-followup@dhs.gov

-Vermont Service Center: vsc.ncscfollowup@dhs.gov

-Nebraska Service Center: ncscfollowup.nsc@dhs.gov

-Texas Service Center: tsc.ncscfollowup@dhs.gov

Please note: Emails should be sent to the Service Center that has jurisdiction over your case. The receipt notice will indicate EAC for the Vermont Service Center, SRC for the Texas Service Center, LIN for the Nebraska Service Center, and WAC for the California Service Center.

When contacting the Service Centers by email you will need to provide the information outlined in Step 1. If the NCSC did not issue a service request after your call, please indicate the reason the NCSC representative did not issue the request.

Step 3: In the event you do not receive a response within 21 days of contacting the appropriate Service Center, you may email the USCIS Headquarters Office of Service Center Operations by email at: SCOPSSCATA@dhs.gov. You will receive a response from this email address within ten days.
