MENA Military Service

Hello MENA forum! I've just applied for a K1 visa for my Iranian fiance, so I look forward to chatting with everyone here. You seem like a really supportive bunch of people.

My main question, though, is if any of you have had to deal with mandatory military service for your fiance during the visa process. How did you deal with this? Have you ever heard of a case being expedited so the fiance could avoid getting stuck in their home country's military?

My fiance has a few months left before his visa (outside of Iran) expires, so I am trying to stay calm. Based on current processing times (and not even including AP), he will have no chance to get the K1 in time. I'm wondering if we should try to get the case expedited (though I'm sure it's such a longshot!) or if we should just cross our fingers and wait. Any input or advice is highly appreciated! And if you have no advice, I could use a hug. :P

Thank you in advance.

you know they just recently forgave another bunch of people's mandatory military service ( based on the year of birth, i dont know exactly because i just heard it on the news ).

BUT i highly doubt they really care about beneficiary's situation,as sad as it is.

good luck with that.

Thanks for the hugs, Monica. It helps!

And yeah ygr, I doubt they care about his military service so I was going to try to focus on the hardships it causes me--for example, include the travel warnings to Iran and the warnings about foreign nationals getting married in Iran (how Iran will take your passport). I would be content to go wait while my fiance does his military service if it was possible, but me going to Iran will probably not work out well.

also mention that there is no alternative to that while he is serving, usually in hardship letters you have to prove that both sides are in hardship regarding the requirements and all,so your situation is ideal for that

I'm going to be rude and bump this up in case anyone else has any experience with this problem. :) Sorry! I am a bit desperate though. :(
