Hello VJ members, pls help me out here. Is it ok to show your Traditional Ghanaian Engagement photos at your K 1 Visa interview. Im wondering if the consulars dont presume that to be marriage instead of engagement? Im confused. Has anybody submited his or her Ghanaian Engagement photos at the interview and got approved?. Pls help

In Ghana the "engagement" is considered the actual deal. So I will be careful presenting anything as the engagement.

my thoughts to you is to try as much as you can to avoid unnecessary red flags since you never can tell what is on the mind of CO.We are all on here to share and learn from other people's experiences,Atimes our over preparation may further plunge us into crisis.I suggest you do your home work very and take a clue from other suggestions already made by members.No need to show the engagement party pics in my own view since you appear to have more than enough evidences already,what I think you need now is the grace of God and self-confidence at the embassy cos extreme nervousness may atimes give people away.Lastly,I suggest you know what you are doing about the wedding date you already set so that you dont give yourself away cos I have some reservation about the date,am not an immigration lawyer but am always willing to learn from others.Just make sure you are able to defend the wedding plan.Above all,you will get the visa in Jesus name(Amen).

thank you for the information- There are many people who have the marriage and then have the wedding planned for later so I am not concerned about that at all. If Israel is asked about it he knows we will be legally married within the 90 days, submit AOS and have the wedding at the later date because we are unable to have a big wedding when he first comes here. There have been many forums about this topic on here for the k-1s.

I have decided to leave the pictures out from the ceremony/celabration with the advice of others.

Like I said above, if it even puts the idea in the CO's mind then its better to leave it out. The same goes for communication you may present between the both of you (text messages, email, etc). If you refer to each other as wifey, hubby etc etc then DO NOT INCLUDE THEM. A lot of people on here do (us included) but I made sure to not include that in the proof we sent.

I agree with ZeeBee. Better to be safe then sorry I wouldn't include them. Me and my husband (he was fiancée then) and we were absolutely not married then were calling each other husband and wife on our emails and it was a big problem with the CO. She believed that we were secretly married and I had to FedEx 2 of my passports to defend that I did not come to Nigeria and get married. Just unnecessary drama if you ask me. Don't do it!

Wow this topic here has definitely surprised me! :wow:

We haven't applied yet (K1 visa, my fiance is in Mali) but I was totally going to include my pictures of our engagement party. I NEVER even considered that they might question it as a wedding!! I would have thought that they would see that as a good thing, that you had a big party with matching outfits and what not as a celebration of your engagement.

So I think I might not include those pictures now.... :blink:

Yup. Just went through my pictures and removed the ones from our engagement and added in just "plain-clothes" ones. :thumbs:

Too bad....cause our outfits were hot :P
