No bank account together...

We never got around to opening a bank account together, because Carlos still isn't working so with just my paycheck being direct deposited into my account and me paying all the bills as normal..we just have not gotten around to it yet. We were going to actually go open a new accout somewhere last week but lost track of the time and the bank was closed. As we have our interview in a month..will this be a problem? The house is in my name because I bought it 3 years ago, but we have 3 credit cards with his name and my name, we also have the car insurance together and he is my beneficiary on all my insurances through my job. He also has his own health insurance card which is a joint one with mine.

All other evidence we have tons of...photos out the ying-yang..wedding stuff, travel records of trips we've taken together since we have gotten married..(5 of them!)

I doubt you will have a problem with what you already have. You do still have a month to get to the bank. It's probably not necessary but this is the kind of info they mostly wanted from us. They did not want a single photo or letter, just account and business information.

Do you have to have 2 bank accounts? Why not having one family account together?

You have enough evidence - and the interviewers understand that in the short time after marriage (for us K1s) its not always possible to get everything in both names. You will be fine - we had the bank account but not the rent/lease/title together and were not asked for it. Give them what you have and don't worry too much. Good Luck.

We won't be able to get a joint bank account because the idiots at the SS office never did their job and James didn't ever receive his SSN, so I sure hope this won't be a big problem because there is no way we can have a joint account!

All they asked us for was a copy of the joint tax return we filed in 2005 (our case lasted 19 months so we had actually filed 2 joint tax returns by then). I had lots of other stuff ready including joint bank account statement, insurance stuff, credit card stuff, etcetera, etcetera, but they never asked to see any of it.
