dont mind and no offense. do you think that people in USCIS may favor regarding race and country? lets say if a case goes to a philipino then he/she might favor that case over other nationality? if the case goes to a white guy then he might favor a white and black to black, asian to asian? is there a chance like that?

Of course not...there's NO SUCH THING as RACISM in THESE here UNITED STATES ;)

I dont see any truth to that at all. name checks may be more difficult for some countries since many people have the same name as flags (some countries that have a lot of 'mohamad' or something like that). As for basing it on race combinations, I do not find that to be the case at all.....MAYBE an embassy may be influenced based on the local culture/beliefs, but not the uscis on our side.

Dude, they don't think. What made you believe that any thought goes into this process? They stumble through the daily pile, with no regard for anything.

Frankly, NVC is jammed up now also. More freaking waiting!!

Um, can you clarify something for us? You speak of Mexico, yet you list Japan as the beneficiary country?

Unclear at this point. Any insight would be appreciated.

Averaging 2 weeks plus for case receipt and transfer to the Embassy/Consulate. Calling is impossible. Circular transfers until they release the call. They are now swamped. So as not to be a buzz kill, they will clear the sudden overflow and will be at full speed soon.

Wooooo. Babelfish is our friend! I love how Babelfish never gets stuff translated properly...

Hi Mew

I've never heard of Babelfish. I use MDGB translator. Ya I get plenty frustrated with the translations sometimes. I'm getting better at word choice to get a respectable translation. Just checked out Babelfish. It's not as fast as MDBG because you don't need to select within a drop down to translate either way. I Yahoo a lot with my baby in China and I like the speed of the translations both ways. A lot of times I'll post the Chinese translation and check how close it is to what I'm trying to convey. Then I have the opportunity to correct prior to sending the message. I do like the fact that I've got an alternative now. Thanks

Another very good online translator is Google http://www.google.com/language_tools

my fiance's previous divorce was done in the court of mexico by a so called international lawyer, who in fact now we know was full of dung, he said it could be done through this court by using power of attorney. said it would be signed and noterizes in a US Embassy upon completion.(no proof of it after recieving the docs) we then find out a year and a half later that according to mexican court law they do not allow divorce by proxy if neither parties were present in the court. So immigration waited all this time to use this as reason for denial when it could have been told to us early on. really thinking to sue the bast**rd who ripped her off after we get through all this. lawyers in her area wouldnt touch the international divorce(small town folks-no clue) so she came across this person who offers to do it through mexico, guam, haiti, and few other options claiming it was legal.

So the fact that your fiancees divorce was not legal, and it took our immigration a long time to notify you..(not taking into consideration that I believe mexicos govt isnt the most efficient in producing records in a expedient manner)....our govt is racist??? I do not follow your logic....maybe incompetent...just like they are now, but racist is an innappropriate accusation

Oh, really sorry to hear of that debacle.

No racist issues noted though.

If you need some VJers to open yet another can of "whup azz", I for one, am in.

Lawyers suck. Sorry, if anyone here is a lawyer...But, that profession is losing credibility on a daily basis.

Mexico is probably the last country that should be accusing the US of being racist...

It turns out that racism in Mexico, both against blacks and dark-skinned indigenous Indians, has a long history. Mexico's colonial past has left its mark on modern-day society. Prejudice toward "pureblood" Indians from those who are "mixed-blood" (Spanish and Indian) is rife. Almost uniformly, people who are darker-skinned and of Indian descent make up the peasantry and working classes, while lighter-skinned, Spanish-descent Mexicans are in the ruling elite. Fox himself comes from that background, as his appearance makes evident.

This inequality may explain in part why the majority of immigrants coming into the United States fall into the darker-skinned category. Beyond the failure of the Mexican government to sustain a decent economy, darker-skinned Mexicans have a difficult time getting work because of job discrimination. According to the Web site IndigenousPeople.net, "sixty percent of Indians over 12 years of age are already unemployed, and of those who work, most earn less than the minimum wage of about $2.50 a day." The same story notes that Mexico City's top restaurants don't allow patrons to bring along Indian domestic workers for fear of tarnishing their business image.

actually i was replying to william about the mention of mexico, explaining it. that part wasnt in connection to any accusations of racism. As for comment on lawyers, you dont have to tell me they suck. the first unaccepted divorce ranged around $2,000 just to be denied, then to fix it cost another $4,000 from a big city lawyer. we now hired another lawyer to handle our second filing to be sure all goes smoothly. she hasnt done much of anything at all except cost us another $3,500.....total that up to a whopping cha-ching $9,500 plus our our filing fees yet to be added.

sorry for confusion, yes that divorced had been finalized, otherwise how would we been able to refile our case. after we found out about the mess we fixed it and refiled. thats why we hired an immigration attorney after the divorce was finalized so that we had no more surprises.
