yes..as soon as I get it in a mail, I book a flight for the earliest date possible...or try and get my passport stamped tomorrow.

Oh, and I called again today and they say there is no tracking number (yet?). I dont even know if they use tracking numbers...

Just check mail. I FINALLY received biometric appointment letter today.

The letter dated Jan 13 (the date USCIS received my RFE) and postmarked Jan 14 (the date USCIS sent me e-notification).

I think I'm not too far away to the end of this AOS process!!!!!

Woke up at 7am today, had couple cups of coffee, put on make up, and left the house at 8:30am for a walk-in biometric. I took metro-rail and bus, which took me about 30-40 mins. I was there at 9:30am and told the security guard that I was trying to do a walk in. He asked me for my appointment letter and told me that he had no authority to allow me to walk-in and that I needed to talk to the guy who was sitting in the office behind him. He told me to take a seat in front of that office and I was the third one in row. There were two other women waiting but they had their appointment scheduled today. The ASC office was packed today and I overheard someone said they had to wait for an hour. I said to myself that if I was allowed to wait I would wait no matter how long. So I was called in by the guy and I greeted him very politely and he greeted me back. I told him that I was trying to walk in because I would have my eye surgery on my appointment day. He said to me that he could not let me do it as there were many people outside waiting. I said to him that I understood and I saw how busy it was today. I thought that he would send me away. But then he said out of blue that he was not a nice guy but he wanted to be nice and asked me if I could come back Friday. OF COURSE!!!!!! Then, he took me to the security lady and asked her to give me a form to fill out. After I filled out the form and passed it back to the security lady, she said, "See you Friday".

I don't think there is a tracking number. So far all mails I got from USCIS are regular mail.

I know how you feel. My parents keep asking me if I will be there for Chinese New Year and why I haven't booked ticket yet. SIGH~~~

But your AP is on the way. Worse case senario is go get stamp tomorrow or see if you can delay the trip for 1-2 days.

What I dont understand about the stamp is...Would I still need to show AP papers when I got back/would they give me a hard time at the first US airport?

Honestly, I'm not quite sure about the stamp thing. I GUESS the stamp is to proof that your AP has been approved before you leave the country. I don't know. You definitely still need your AP to come back so your hubby will need to Fedex your AP to you in case you do not get it tomorrow (I hope this is not the case).

Some VJers here said that CBP don't check if you have AP in hand when you leave the country and you only need to show your AP when you come back. My friend told me the same thing too. Some other VJers said there is risk to leave without AP in hand and I agree with them too. I remember CBP scans my passport everytime I leave USA so there must be time stamp on their system showing your arrival/departure dates. If the approval date is after your departure date then that could be problematic.

I'd pack and go even if you don't have it in your hands tomorrow (though I think you will), your AP was approved and is in the mail. I'd have hubby fedex it, they don't check for it when you leave. Sure sucks to lose a couple hundred bucks (more or less) to cancel or change plane tickets because USPS took a break on Monday.

I double checked if my AP was really really approved. It still isnt updated on USCIS, but I called and they assured me it was approved and sent on 14th or 15th. How long does it usually take to receive it? Does it ever happen it gets lost on a way from USCIS to the house adress?

As long as my AP is approved BEFORE I leave the states, I should be fine as long as hubby fedex's it to me, right? Im so nervous about this whole thing.
