If you keep complaining about what god is doing you might be punished.

] I hope you can find the humor in CArlin's commentary :)

On a main note, One of the first pieces of advice I got on this board was to find a hobby to take up my time. Were it not for that, I don't think I could have began this daunting process... I may have had a fast approval time.. But I came to this site in October 2009. Music is a good start! I sincerely wish you the best of luck, your time will come. :)

I feel you 100%!!! I've been trying not to wine and feel discouraged but its really hard when something stands in the way of you being in love. Yes I know there are a bunch of other people going through what we are going through, but honestly... that doesnt help ME feel any better. Try to stay encouraged (easier said than done)... although I know how difficult it is. It will all happen in due time.

When we submitted the fiance paperwork back in May 07, the time line for approval in CSC was running about 3-4 months. Shortly thereafter, USCIS raised the fee structure for all petitions. This took effect in July 07 and resulted in slowing the time line way down. Not only that, but the Democrats were pushing for people to apply for citizenship because of the upcoming election in Nov 08. Our petition, along with almost everyone else' s came to a grinding halt because of the huge back log that these events created. CSC started running 6 months plus. Ours took about 7 months.

I know it is very hard to wait but hang in there. Remember that there is ALWAYS someone that has been waiting far longer than you. Good luck!

At the risk of sounding rude (not my intention at all), I think anyone filing through VSC should count their blessings. I filed 2 months to the day after you, and my estimate right now is February! So is the case for many people. The process isn't done by machines, and cases are handled by a variety of different people, who all work at different rates. Everyone's petition looks a little different as well, so the process is highly subjective. As a result, estimates in time frame are just that, loose estimates. VJ'ers represent a miniscule portion of people who file, so we can't take the estimates on here as gospel. If you want to keep your sanity through the process, you MUST relax so early in the game. I stressed for the first month and realized quickly that this process does not need to have power over my life. Be grateful we all have love in our lives and be patient. Good things come to those who wait. (us CSC filers are really hoping this is true!)

I'm glad that someone else posted what I was about to post. Our petition was caught up in the same tsunami. We didn't even get the NOA1 for months, and that was only after prying it from the CSC. I was palpably going bananas after 5 months of waiting for the NOA2. It took multiple calls and, finally, escalation to a kindly Immigration Officer who, upon hearing that we were now at 6 months exactly, learned that our file had been sitting on a transfer station between posts (for who knows how long). He agreed to contact the processing floor to get someone to move it along. A little while later, it was in name-checks, and another IO pried it from there. A couple of days later, we had approval.

This appeared to be the hard part, but it was nothing in comparison to the devious, evil treatment by the lying, ####### Guayaquil consulate, whose COs then and now need to be hauled back to the U.S. in chains for abuse of U.S. citizens. That's another story. Fortunately, AOS was easy (no interview), and application for ROC is early in 2011.

The short answer is that the immigration process is a very large elephant that needs to be eaten a bite at a time. Some bites will be larger than others. The NOA1-to-NOA2 bite can be the largest. Distract yourself with a hobby or violent physical exercise, collect information for the consular interview, and keep the faith, si man.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

i doubt god can be fair to give everyone who has applied instant approval all at once. but i believe as a whole we all have our own time and we should stay patient, enduring and grateful that we have such an opportunity to be with our loved ones beyond geographical barriers. on another side of things to make light of it, i wouldn't say god would be behind the uscis' approval process; that would be blasphemy. :-) just kidding. perhaps bless us in that the person who holds the decision making in his/her hands grants us a smooth transition. in any case, here's wishing all of you lots of love and patience, growing fonder for our partners despite the distance.
