i drive 1.25 hours to work and home throughout the week. i see alot of drivers.. not like this one today

lemme see if i can set this up :

i was in the left lane of a 4 lane road (2 lanes each side) which is typically where the thru traffic stays (as they are not exiting the roadway). I see this dark blue SUV merging with the traffic on the RIGHT from the right (like a street is dumping traffic onto the main rd). he is going pretty fast then all of a sudden he jerks the wheel heading to land in front of me. I guess objects ARE actually farther away than they seem because even though he is all clear to cut me off (plenty of room) he JERKS the wheel back right. Rolls down the window and starts shouting at me! I give him the obilgatory finger and mouth the easily readable statement that usually follows. :P and then he throws a BIG GULP at me!

Im pretty stunned at this point, but then the guy decides he is all done with regular roads and drives up an embankment that is newly mulched and had new shrubs planted. he must have been in some kind of twighlight zone...

i still cant believe i got hit with a big gulp!

Yeah, some people here are pretty irate behind the wheel. No wonder seeing that close to half the population is at an age where I question if they should walk anywhere unsupervised let alone drive and the other close to half seems to be on some kind of a valium diet. I swear, traffic here moves slower than molasses on a cold New York winter day. And then you have the impatient ones. And the ones with extended fingers and such. Tampa roads are an adventure. Good thing my commute is only 15 minutes on a bad day.

So, they actually do right turns on red where you live? Here, they can't muster that one - they just don't have the guts if there's a car a mile and a half out approaching at more than 15mph. It's horrible.

Well it's obvious that the whole problem was that he didn't like the flavor of big gulp. It was the cause behind the erratic driving and when you relieved him of it, he was able to carry on his merry way...

I had a guy tailgating me once on the interstate. I was in the left lane where you should be when you are passing slower cars. Once I cleared the car, he wanted me to change to the right lane but since he was tailgating, I refused. He was quite irate and motioned to him to go to the right lane to pass me. Once he finally did, and passed me, I quickly changed to the right lane and sped up.

To the OP - you got what you deserve for giving the guy the "obligatory" finger.

oh yeah, i guess your right. i should have smiled and waved while he berated me (for HIS mistake). finger gestures don't really hold a candle to THROWING objects at someone. Um eye for an eye? not in the slightest

You should have. Seriously, you can't get mad at all those idiots, the best way is to ignore them.

Here in NYC you can't go one block without some idiot honking his horn at you. Everyone seems to have an opinion on how you should drive. Had I paid any attention, I would have gone mental by now.
