This is my first post on this site. I am a UKC and will be marrying my fiance who is a USC and have applied for the K1. We were given a receipt dated 13th September and have heard nothing since. I realise that this is only 6 weeks but what is the optimistic and realistic idea of when an interview might be offered. Our lawyer, websites etc are all so vague. I was hoping to have been able to go over in December but is this now out of the question?

Realism required please!!!

Thanks in advance

Have you registered on the USCIS site as of yet? IF not, you need to do that in order to see your case last update. And if you read other's timeline on here it will help you know what to expect or at least what kind of wait you are looking at.

We have an NOA1 date of September 10th. You should expect an NOA2 hopefully in December. From the time of the petition leaving NVC to getting an interview is about 2 and a half to 3 months at the moment.

So expect a moving date of early to mid march. If it comes sooner, then great. All depends when NOA2 arrives.

Have you checked with your lawyer. Sometimes they hold on to info. I would also register with the USCIS once you get your receipt number. I don't think you will be here by December :( but not long after that if it's any consolation.

Thanks for these super quick responses. I have indeed logged into the USCIS site to track the progress, however it merely says waiting for decision. Ameribrit, I assumed as much. March does seem more realistic on my recent research. I keep seeing the word touched on people's timelines. What does this mean?!

Hello,

Give or take two months, think of the process as a 6 month process, from sending the petition to interview time. So, maybe you will be able to come middle of March or sometime in April.

Best wishes!

August 23, 2010 - I-129 F package sent via USPS priority mail with delivery confirmation.

August 30, 2010 - Per Department of Homeland Security (DHS) e-mail, petition received and routed to California Service Center for processing. Check cashed. I-797C Notice of Action by mail (NOA 1) - Received date 08/25/2010. Notice date 08/27/2010.

After 150 days of imposed anxious patience...

January 24, 2011 - Per USCIS website, petition approved and notice mailed.

January 31, 2011 - Approval receipt notice (NOA 2) received by mail. Called NVC, given Santo Domingo case number, and informed that petition was sent same day to consulate.

Called Visa Specialist at the Department of State every day for a case update. Informed of interview date on February, 16 2011. Informed that packet was mailed to fiance on February, 15 2011.

February 21, 2011 - Fiance has not yet received packet. Called 1-877-804-5402 (Visa Information Center of the United States Embassy) to request a duplicate packet in person pick-up at the US consulate in Santo Domingo. Packet can be picked-up by fiance on 02/28.

March 1, 2011 - Medical exam completed at Consultorios de Visa in Santo Domingo.

March 9, 2011 at 6 AM - Interview, approved!

March 18, 2011 - POE together. JFK and O'Hare airports. Legal wedding: May 16, 2011.

Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you have imagined.

About 6 months after initial filing.

Our lawyer, websites etc are all so vague.

Too bad because VJ here is very specific. The Guides ARE in English, so that might trip up some folks.

I was hoping to have been able to go over in December but is this now out of the question?

Yep, out of the question. Try more like next March/April.

Realism required please!!!

Thanks in advance

Do you like statistics? Check out the link at the top of the page called Immigration Timelines. It's white text on the top blue bar. You might need to stretch your window sideways because it wraps funny. There are lots of bits of data and charts to look at. I looked at it quite a lot when trying to set a date for our wedding, and may help you with setting your expectations.

K-1:

January 28, 2009: NOA1

June 4, 2009: Interview - APPROVED!!!

October 11, 2009: Wedding

AOS:

December 23, 2009: NOA1!

January 22, 2010: Bogus RFE corrected through congressional inquiry "EAD waiting on biometrics only" Read about it here.

March 15, 2010: AOS interview - RFE for I-693 vaccination supplement - CS signed part 6!

March 27, 2010: Green Card recieved

ROC:

March 1, 2012: Mailed ROC package

March 7, 2012: Tracking says "notice left"...after a phone call to post office.

Thanks for the latest comments. It really is a huge support to get these messages. I think the most irritating aspect of all of this is the unknown, fuzzy waiting we all have to do, whilst seemingly nothing is happening. I am going to join up to the September filers to see how we compare to the rest. Does anybody know the protocol on travelling to the US whilst the application is pending and what impact, if any this has on one's application?
