I just got a response from Montreal, who said that the forms that are being requested were contained in the medical. I then called the POE again, and this time they spent 15 minutes on the phone with me, consulted a superior, and told me that the brown envelope is forwarded to my local CIS office (Orlando). I looked up the Orlando office, and it says I can make an INFO PASS appointment, but none of the options relate to my case. I basically want to find out if they have my medical at the Orlando office.

I made an INFO PASS appointment for Thursday. Doubt they'll be helpful though.

Because we are kinda freaking out over here, I called the USCIS again, and this time talked to an Officer Morales. I relayed to him what Officer Fox said for us to do. She had said that in order for us to respond to the RFE, we needed to send a letter to the USCIS, stating that my husband already had the medical, and they already had the papers, as the envelope was handed off to Homeland Security at POE. She had said for us to include the date of POE and a copy of the RFE and send it back to them. We did that today, overnighted. Officer Morales said this was the correct thing to do (hope he is right) and that this letter will answer the RFE. After they receive it, they will make a decision on if they still need the medical forms, or if they magically return (ok, he didn't say that last part, lol). But to call them back in a couple of weeks to see if there is any additional information. Since the letter answers this RFE, if they still need what THEY lost, they will give us a new deadline.

In the meantime, I have tried to call our congressman repeatedly today to see what they can do, but, alas, it is election day, and there is no one answering the phone. I hope he is still in office by tomorrow!!!

Does anyone know for sure where the medical goes after the POE? The POE officer I spoke with this morning told me the medical goes to my local CIS office (Orlando). Is that true or does it goe to the National Processing Center?

at my POE, the gentleman opened up the envelope took out all the papers and entered some of the data into the computer. i never saw him reseal it or put it away as he left and handed off the process to another guy who had to finish it. kinda makes me a bit disconcerted as those papers were all over the desk :(

from what i have heard they send it off to the local uscis office, the agent confirmed with us our address so he knew where to send it. i just happen to be in chicago, so i'm guessing that is where mine went.

They told me they would have sent them to Orlando. Note: they did not say they DID send them to Orlando, just that they SHOULD HAVE. When I asked if they could check for a log to see if it was sent, they told me that would take hours of research and they would not do it unless I went to their office in New York and requested it in person. They said they could not do that over the phone.

I bet they would do it for my congressman though!

I know a bunch of us who recently filed our AOS did the same thing. I never received a receipt (personally) with any code on it, just the sealed package from my medical so attached the invoice and my vaccination records and proof of a negative TB test. They did hand me back my xray cdrom too. They are supposed to include your medical results in the sealed package you hand in at POE so it just seems weird that they would RFE. I too would assume they forgot to include it, lost it or overlooked it.

Sounds like someone is starting to figure out who went wrong in your case though, best of luck!

See profile for our K-1 Visa/AOS story from 2010-2011Apparently we love USCIS/NVC so much we left and are doing it again! This time giving IR-1 a whirl. Rock on immigrators.

07/09/2014 sent in IR-1 packet to Chicago Lockbox

10/01/2014 found out we are expecting baby #2 June 2015!

12/30/2014 Case received by NVC

03/23/2015 Received Case and Inv # from NVC after many calls and bogus excuses.

03/24/2015 AOS payment accepted by NVC

04/09/2015 IV payment finally accepted by NVC after the set the wrong fee and took weeks to correct it.

*many more delays thanks to the agency processing my fingers prints to the RCMP and the post office losing our mail*

05/20/2015 Packet sent to NVC via UPS, eta May 28.

06/16/2015 Baby #2 due - homebirth in Scottsdale, AZ

Well Sean went for the INFO PASS appointment yesterday. The immigration officer in Orlando told him that the medical is forwarded to CSC, not to the local CIS office. ??? The immigration officer told him that unless we got the copy of the medical to CSC by November 9th (our medical expires on November 9th), it would be no good. Dr. Seidon's office told me they can't fax me a copy, they have to mail it in a sealed envelope. Of course the lady who does that is on vacation until Monday, and even if they did mail it on Monday, it would never get to me in time to mail it to CSC. It doesn't seem right that CSC needs it by November 9th when I filed AOS on May 23rd.

Sean is just going to re-do the whole damned medical. We have his shot record from Ontario dept of health and the immunization transcription from Dr. Seidon (which is incomplete- they left off his Hep B vaccinations).

We're just going to send in the new medical and I-693 next week after his appointment on Tuesday. At least we'll know it is finished.

That really sucks. This process is long and expensive enough without having to do things over because they can't manage to get all of your files from one place to the other. I just hope that I don't end up with a RFE for medical. Mine will be expiring in a couple of weeks and we can't really afford to do another one right now.
