NVC Number Indicates Wrong Embassy!

Here's the problem in short:

-I-130 was just approved (woo hoo!)

-Called NVC to get NVC number, which they had (woo hoo!)

-NVC number begins with "LND"--London embassy--which is the WRONG embassy (oh no!)

My husband lives in Northern Ireland, which is technically part of the U.K., but he is an Irish citizen (he has an Irish passport NOT a British one). The NVC operator told us to send a letter requesting that the embassy be changed from London to Dublin. The letter needs to be accompanied by a copy of his passport.

Has anyone encountered this before? How difficult is it to change the embassy (and, what paperwork will they need for this)? Does this considerably slow down the NVC process?

2011-02-22 - 12:00 pm? Medical in London (second medical--Dublin medical not accepted in London)

2011-02-25 - Medical arrived at the London Embassy

2011-03-04 - VISA APPROVED (date is approximate) :):)

2011-03-08 - Visa delivered to beneficiary in Northern Ireland

2011-03-17 - POE

2012-12-31 - mailed I-751 packet

2013-01-07 - check for I-751 cashed by "CSC Field Office Payment"

2013-01-03 - NOA (received in the mail on 2013-01-11)

2013-01-30 - Biometrics Appointment

2013-03-17 - 2-year Conditional Green Card expires

23-DEC-2016 -:- N400 form mailed to Dallas, TX Lockbox (USPS EXPRESS)

27-DEC-2016 -:- N400 form delivered/picked up by USCIS

01-JAN-2017 -:- N400 form fee check cashed by USCIS

04-JAN-2017 -:- N400 form received per NOA1

09-JAN-2017 -:- N400 form NOA1 notice date

14-JAN-2017 -:- N400 form NOA1 on hand through USPS

30-JAN-2017 -:- N400 fingerprint taken

01-FEB-2017 -:- N400 interview schedule process started

26-JUL-2017 -:- N400 interview date set (01SEP2017)

29-JUL-2017 -:- N400 interview letter on hand

01-SEP-2017 -:- N400 interview date - Interview passed

Thanks for the reply! Well, I guess it's good not to be alone with regard to NVC mistakes...it'd be so nice if they'd get it right the first time 'round, though. :bonk:

I had similar experience,I changed embassys due to backlogs of immigrant interview cases at the previous embassy.It took a month before the review was finalized.Note:My case was already completed at Nvc for well 3months before I requested for the changes,am sure the development prolonged the final review since they had to process me all over again to my new embassy.Yeah, I sent a copy of my passport bio data page confirming my eligibility to be processed through the new embassy.Since your case is still under completion at NVC then it shouldnt take more than 2weeks but ensure you send out the request to nvc@inquiry ASAP because it takes up to a week after the mail is sent to the time of acknowledgement of the receipt.I hope it helps
