Hi All,

I thought I'd find it in a search, but wasn't able to.

Has anyone found/used a good couscous steamer/pot that they like and would recommend?

i have the stainless steel one from sur la table. not as gorgeous as some of the copper ones i've seen, but it still does a very nice job. we use it every week!

Thanks; I appreciate your help. Do you use just the steamer insert? I could only find steamer inserts on their website. Nothing specific to couscous. Is that what you use?

I've used both a steamer insert and a couscousierre. The steamer will leave your couscous a little more wet than the couscousierre. I'm afraid I can't recommend a brand in the US as mine came from Morocco.

AND--you can wash it in the dishwasher. because i already have plenty of hand wash only pots, thankyouverymuch.

i have a clay couscoussier from Algeria, but I did at one time have a cruddy metal one(aluminum??) from a local arabic store. In my experience, the best ones will be found overseas and at a better price too.

i'm too paranoid about lead to buy a clay one overseas, or one that's been imported, as much as i would like to have one.

I've had good results with a $30 Tramontina steamer from a department store. The couscous came out very fluffy. But the bottom part doesn't hold enough for more than three or four people, so I'm going to check out the one recommended here.

You really do not need a cousccousier you can easily use a pot with a steamer insert then wrap a towel around it.
