From what I heard there really is no equivalent of notary in Ghana... i asked a few different people and was never able to get an answer. Maybe others will have some idea but I had no luck.

MMHHHmm - I've heard that Attorneys in GH actually do the notary but I was wondering can I get a fee check on here... Hopefully someone knows or I'll just have him locate some Attorneys there and do a price check...

Im not sure- Israels family wrote a letter and then i have some from here- none of which i have notorized. but i am not relying on them heavily for evidence- it is just something extra. Reason being (as I am a notary), notary just says the signature is of the person signing the document- the whole document could be false, we do not have to check that part!

So for letters all it would be doing is sayin the person siging it is who they are....

Best of luck!

 Thanks! We are not rrelying on the notarized letter solely either but we just want to have whatever documents they request. Nonetheless we will have letters from our family members on both sides and mutual friends as well. My teacher is a Notary - just inquiring about one on his end(if that even exist).. ;) Edited by kamson

AWESOME!!Ok, that works. So did U have your party write their own draft out and just sign and date in Lawyer's presence? How did that work as far as the drafting up the form? Was it all handwritten?

What we refer to as notary publics are called a commissioner of oaths in Ghana. They usually set up outside of court houses, and in Accra can be found in front of several of different minister's offices. Prices vary, it shouldn't be more than 20 cedis. Hope this was helpful. Good luck.
