May wife and I plan on traveling to the Philippines during the 90 day window preceding the expiration of her Conditional Green Card. When we get back in the USA her card will not be expiring for 2 more months. I was reading somewhere that she "may" need a re-entry permit or an advance parole approval via the I-131. We thought that once she got the conditional permanent resident card she could travel out of the USA and back without any problems? We thought the advance parole was just in case you traveled prior to the adjustment of status approval?

You heard wrong.

Advance Parole is for people who have not received a Green Card yet.

The Reentry Permit is for people who want to stay away from the USA for 1 to 2 years without abandoning their permanent residence.

It is good you are attempting to verify what you read.

An AP is for aliens that have filed an application for adjustment of status but have not received a decision from the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services; or hold refugee or asylee status and intend to depart temporarily to apply for a U.S. immigrant visa in Canada; and/or for emergency personal or bona fide reason to travel temporarily abroad.

The re-entry permit is for LPRs (green card holders) who stay out of the USA for a year or longer.

As long as your spouse re-enters before her Green Caed expires there should be no problems.P.S. passport valid for at least 6 months.

3/23/14 - N400 package sent to Phoenix

3/27/14 - N400 package delivered

4/3/14 - NOA1 receipt date

4/4/14 - check cashed

04/29/14 - biometrics date

07/01/14 - interview date

xx/xx/xx - Oath Ceremony

As long as your wife has a valid Philippines passport, she can travel in/out of the US as she wishes (within reason and conformity to continuous residency and physical presence).

N-400 Naturalization Timeline
