No offense, but I think it might have been that she was here illegally or overstayed long enough that can subject her to be banned or even inadmissible, and she doesn't want you to know coz' she's afraid that you might back down on her if you knew it would be a hard case with a longer journey than usaual.

My advise is to sit down and talk to her, find out what the real reason is that she wants to lie, ask her what kinda mess she made with US immigration, tell her they have records of everything, her lie won't conceal anything, they're not stupid.

And most importantly, tell her that you WILL NEVER BACK DOWN on her, even her case needs a lawyer to do a waiver or anything, tell you you will fight with her. I'm sure she'll spit it all out. Good luck with your journey and welcome to this community :)

Timeline

People that live in border areas often make frequent trips to neighboring countries, It would be impossibe for me to count my visits to Canada in the last year, let alone in a lifetime. The last month may be feasible. I would mention "long visits" (overnight for example) and then write "multiple short, single day visits" I go there for lunch sometimes. Great Viande Feu!

Don't dwell overly on this, but do not knowingly LIE

Yeah, I just moved to a border town, and haven't been making trips to the US, since it's a hassle to go with my friends when I get questioned more than anyone else, and I just end up regretting the trip that was probably to spend money I don't have to spend.

I've made a lot of trips to the US, but almost all have been overnight, so I included those. And of course there was the summer I had a J-1 visa, so obviously that was included.

I don't think I really overthought or dwelled too much on it, but I did try to be as thorough as possible. I'm sure there's trips from my childhood that I completely forgot about, but I'm sure the questioning officer will realize I'm not trying to hide any trips.

Good advice though. Glad to hear you're in Canada often! ..... never heard of Viande Feu :(
