If you happen to have the misfortune of having your petition routed to CSC rather than VSC you need to be prepared to wait, wait, and wait some more!

I have not been waiting for long (on paper), yet it has FELT like forever... :(

August 23, 2010 - I-129 F package sent via USPS priority mail with delivery confirmation.

August 30, 2010 - Per Department of Homeland Security (DHS) e-mail, petition received and routed to California Service Center for processing. Check cashed. I-797C Notice of Action by mail (NOA 1) - Received date 08/25/2010. Notice date 08/27/2010.

After 150 days of imposed anxious patience...

January 24, 2011 - Per USCIS website, petition approved and notice mailed.

January 31, 2011 - Approval receipt notice (NOA 2) received by mail. Called NVC, given Santo Domingo case number, and informed that petition was sent same day to consulate.

Called Visa Specialist at the Department of State every day for a case update. Informed of interview date on February, 16 2011. Informed that packet was mailed to fiance on February, 15 2011.

February 21, 2011 - Fiance has not yet received packet. Called 1-877-804-5402 (Visa Information Center of the United States Embassy) to request a duplicate packet in person pick-up at the US consulate in Santo Domingo. Packet can be picked-up by fiance on 02/28.

March 1, 2011 - Medical exam completed at Consultorios de Visa in Santo Domingo.

March 9, 2011 at 6 AM - Interview, approved!

March 18, 2011 - POE together. JFK and O'Hare airports. Legal wedding: May 16, 2011.

Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you have imagined.

We've been waiting 186 days, a little over six months. I called USCIS last week and they put in a service request to the CA office. If I don't see anything in the mail today I guess I will get in touch with a congressman. I don't know what is taking so long. What exactly do they do in this first step? Just look through and read the file? Maybe the person that our file was assigned to has a bunch of problem files or something (hopefully not ours), who knows........

Good luck to you on getting yours soon;)

Im coming upon 5 months of waiting for my NOA2, has it ever taken any of you this long to get your NOA2?

Hello, thanks for this forum!

I can see I'm not the only one getting crazy about getting any news from USCIS (1,5 month!).

I realized the petition we filled was a bit light, we didn t put pictures or evidence of our relationship and we didn t have a "cover letter".

Do you think we should send it again right now or do we have to wait for the RFE?

thanks for your advices!

Friends of ours took 9 months. No RFEs, just took long. Have patience; you knew that going in; still applies.

just noticed you got your NOA2 congrats!

It seems to sit at the NVC for roughly a week before being forwarded to your consulate/embassy.

You fill in the I-134 for the interview, then the 184 is for Adjustment of Status....

Sorry, don't know about the whole congressman thing

I understand. I had a friend do this last year coming from Peru, and she arrived 4 months after her 129F was filed. I hate her now and wish this wait would end.

Hi Rob+Liz, looks like you got your NOA1 from Cal a week before we did. Was originally hoping for the NOA2 round about now, but thinking it may be another month or so...This is starting to get depressing..!!

I wouldn't necessarily say that... as another friend quoted to me which I will quote to you, waiting for your NOA2 is like standing in line at a grocery store. some people move faster at approving petitions while others are slower plus getting RFEs and names that get highlighted in the database slow things down as well. So Im just standing in a long line as with these others not knowing which place I got in line. You may end up with a shorter line than the rest of us so Good luck on the waiting!
