Who else feels like being called in is a complete waste of time?

I co-founded a 4WD Club, and my job was establishing a policy against DUI while on club events - making me "unsuitable" juror material.

I bribed Police in Mexico - making me "unsuitable" juror material.

 I am sick and tired of "them" wasting my time! :bonk:

I have been called for Federal court jury duty and they expect me to be available for 30 business days. I have asked to be excused as I am an over the road driver and only make money by driving out of town. They denied that but did OK my extension. They asked when I am able to do it and at for now it is February. So they expect me to be available for 6 weeks. My company already knows and they plan on me turning in my brand new truck but will give me another old truck when I return to work. We are trying to work it out at my company how I can pay and keep my medical insurance.

I have done county jury duty now several times and it was for a couple of weeks and I was cool with that and just went fishing or played gold when they didn't need me but 6 weeks is steep. The first time many years ago I threw away the summons but constables actually came and got me and brought me in before the judge who threatened me with being in a holding cell till my duty was over. I was given a choice and I said I would honor the service from then on.

I usually am very good at avoiding being called on a jury by just stating my honest thoughts to the attorneys questions and I get dropped for the pool at that particular trial but have to remain on standby anyway. Now I am going to try to get on a federal jury and hope it is a quick trial as that then frees me from further obligation. I think I know what to say but will study before when the time comes.

If it wasn't for such strong-arm tactics, nobody would show up to serve. :bonk:

Hopefully Palin will do something about this when she is President.

No-one - you're the only selfish ####### around here.

I sure hope that when you're on trial, your jurors will have a better attitude and not consider your fate hanging in the balance a waste of their time.

 greatest post I read all night. I sat on a criminal jury one time...was the only ####### voting not guilty because it seemed everyone was in a hurry and I truly did not believe "beyond a reasonable" doubt the gentleman was guilty. Result: Hung jury and the prosecutor refused to re-try the case. :innocent:

May love and laughter light your days,
and warm your heart and home.
May good and faithful friends be yours,
wherever you may roam.
May peace and plenty bless your world
with joy that long endures.
May all life's passing seasons

Yes I was but i have gotten the summons so many times now that I expect it and go and do it. It is asking a lot though for them to expect me to take 6 weeks off from work.

So it appears that you have gotten on their "go-to-guy" list, and are reliable EVERY time. Hmmm. Wonder what the opposite decision results in.... NOT the "go-to-guy".

Ever heard of mass arrests for Jury Duty scofflaws? Just sayin'....:whistle:
