N-400 November 2010 Filers

Okay. So today was my interview. The appointment was at 9:30 AM and I went in at 9:00 AM.

They sent me to this white trailer and then called my name when it was my turn. I don't know what time it was though because I left my phone at the car and I didn't have a watch on me either.

The IO wasn't that friendly but she did show some smiles here and there.... lol She was sick and was just coming back, so..

Anyways..

She just asked the same questions on the application to verify..

Asked me to read 3 simple sentences.. I can't remember all of them though... One was "Where does the President live?" "When is President's Day?" and I can't remember the last one...

Then She asked me to write "The President lives in the White House."

Then she asked the 6 questions.

"What is one promise you make when you become a United States citizen?"

"Who is the governor of Florida?"

"Name two national U.S. holidays"

"Where is the Statue of Liberty?"

"What movement tried to end racial discrimination?"

"Who was the first president?"

Now I gotta wait for the oath ceremony date letter.. The IO said that it is more than likely for April, but if not, it will be May. I just looked up for the schedule at Tampa Convention Center, which is where the ceremony is held. The next ceremonies are 3/23, 4/12, 5/25... 3/23 would be awesome but 4/12 is okay too. We are in the process of buying a home... hoping to close at the end of the month. So I really hope that I will get the letter and everything done in April so that I don't have to worry about getting the letter forwarded/lost... lol

When I got to my car, it was 10:15... So although it felt like it took forever, I was in there only for about 1 hour and 15 minutes. Not bad at all... considering my appt was at 9:30.. it was actually 45 min. :)

Thanks for all the "congrats" posts. I can't believe on March 10th it will be 4 months since she had her fingerprints taken. I don't see us being finished inside 5 months but I'll take 6 for sure. I think we are at 4 months and 25 days on March 10th to be exact. I will be so happy to get this USCIS monkey off my back.

Worries about trying to prove my stepdaughters' battery charges are over when she was 17 months old. Was a miscommunication error, Her oath letter came in today for 03/24/2011 at 2:15 PM, state its a 30 minute ceremony right at the St. Paul field office. Now just have to be concerned about the weather, hope March goes out like lamb, sure came in like a lion.

Alls well that ends well, except for the many more gray hairs.

Finally good news! Interview letter arrived TODAY. I would love to know how this works because received/priority date is October 28, 2010 and there are people in the Nov and Dec threads who applied after us and some have already had interviews and others have interview dates before ours. Not complaining but there seems to be NO rhyme or reason. I wonder if it's based on the candidates country of origin or something. Anyway adding our interview date. I'll close the thread and turn off the lights when we are finished. :dance: First in and last out!

You were very patience..I wish i had a fraction of your patience...

Im sure your oath and Interview will be very close to each other..so in many ways you finish before many of us.....good.gif

Okay I have a few questions for the group since ALL of you are further along than my wife.

On our interview letter she is asked to bring a few things. We never received a yellow letter so not even sure what those look like.

*This letter (okay, sure)

*Your Alien Registration card (Not a problem)

*Any evidence of Selective Service Registration(Is this on EVERY letter...I'll explain why I am curious later)

*Your passport and/or any document you used in connection with any entries into the United States(easy)

*Those items noted below that are applicable to you:

If applying for naturalization as the spouse of a U.S. citizen:

*Your marriage certificate(okay, easy)

*Proof of death or divorce for each prior marriage of yourself or spouse (No problem)

*Spouses birth certificate ( Can do)

All of the above requirements seem easy as pie. Is this ALL we need to take to her interview. I'm also concerned about the selective service note as USCIS made not one but two mistakes on the 2-year GC and the 10-year GC. They had my wife's sex on the card as M instead of F. She received a reminder after the first green card to sign up for selective service. I had to file a form each time to get USCIS to issue a corrected GC since they made a mistake. I'm wondering if the selective service comment is a reminder that they still have it screwed up and we will AGAIN have problems with the citizenship. So, is this a comment on ALL interview letters about secret service?

To the other Atlanta applicant in this thread, F@rsc@p3, was your interview on Parklake Drive, NE. Did you ask for same day oath or was it just offered. Also, what documentation did you take along.

Yes, I didn't have to ask for the same day oath...The IO told me he was recommending me for approval and asked me to wait in the lobby and see if I would get invited to the same day oath. I wait for about 1 hour until my name was called and I got the Oath letter. I arrived 40 minutes earlier to the interview and got called within 10 minutes of my arrival. My interview lasted about 35 minutes. Good luck to your wife ;)
