Yes I agree with the post above that some offices move much faster than others. I applied for my citizenship on Jan. 31, 2011 and got my fingerprint and interview assigned .... All within 20

Days...

you see recardo....im not the only one who thinks like the other O.P....some of us just had bad luck as we got lazy Fockers working on our file....proberly the one's who have 2 smoke breaks every 30 mins.. wonder they want to cut back on such services cas some of t there staff they have, is just there to collect a pay check and do as little as possible....walk around the office with a sheet of A4 looking like there doing something....seen all that before...

Ok so today was the Interview/test.

Appointment was at 10.20am, I got there at 9.30, cleared security and sat down after handing over the letter.

I was called in at 12.45pm.

Officer was a young man, very polite and soft spoken.

Asked me to follow him, told my husband he can sit outside and relax.

Went to his office, he made me swear to tell the truth etc

Then he asked my full name and date of birth.

Then he asked me to sign my full name on the 2 pictures.

Then he asked me to write - Citizens can vote

He asked me to read - Who can vote?

Then he went onto the 6 questions

*Who veto bills?

*Who did the US fight in WWII

*Capital of NY State

*What is the supreme law of the land?

Cant remember the other 2.

Then he went over the application, asked me about trips out of the US, asked me where I live, is it by the Hudson river, which avenue etc etc.

Was i arrested, do I deal with drugs, am i associated to terrorist grps etc..the same ones you see on the application.

he then asked me if I have any bills or joint bank statements only for 2010.

I gave him a few ranging from 2009 and 10. he said the file has all the previous docs and he only needs 1 0r 2 for 2010.

Then he said i have passed, congratulated me and said a letter with oath details will be sent to me.

He made me sign on a form and print my name.

Handed me a paper that said I had passed.

When i asked him about an approx oath date.

he looked at his PC and said NYC office has 400 interviews a day and 1 or 2 oath ceremonies a week with a seating capacity of 150 ppl .

Because of this my oath is scheduled to be end of April or Early may.

He did not ask for my yellow letter or any of the items the yellow letter asked me to bring...

I mentioned this to him and he said he has everything but he was happy to know I follow instructions.

He said he didnt need my passport or ID or anything.

So other than the 2 hour wait and the 2 month wait for the oath ceremony everything was a piece of cake.

So Now I wait for another 2 months....

Hey Guys,

I went for the citizenship interview today based on the 3 year rule and was approved. My oath is on the 6th April. The interview went well. I was basically asked the same stuff on the n-400 form and the usual writing, reading and civics stuff.

However, my experience was a bit different from what I have read about most marriage based n-400 interviews. The first difference is both my wife and I were called into the interview. We were asked if we were still living together. The IO asked for both drivers license and compared the address listed. Another difference was I had a speeding ticket a few years back, the officer asked for some certified proof that the ticket was paid, lucky I had a certified copy ready. Thanks to information posted on the site a few months ago. Apart from the two differences it was very straight forward and quick. I think the interview lasted for about 15 to 20 minutes and then I had to wait another 15 minutes for the oath letter.

No he didnt take the additional pictures, he made me sign on the 2 pictures I sent initially with my application

Yes 2 months will fly by even though it seems like a long time to wait

Congratulations. The 2 months period will passed quick and you will be a proud US citizen soon. Did IO ask you for additional 2 pictiures coz they now have a digital picture( biometrics) for the ceritificate.

Yesterday I recieved my new US passport just 22 days for processing - not bad! I was able to track the entire process online at the state.gov website. I also recieved another social security card the same day, having updated my status after my oath.

Congratulations to everyone who have passed their interviews and good luck to everyone else.

Thanks for all the "congrats" posts. I can't believe on March 10th it will be 4 months since she had her fingerprints taken. I don't see us being finished inside 5 months but I'll take 6 for sure. I think we are at 4 months and 25 days on March 10th to be exact. I will be so happy to get this USCIS monkey off my back.
