Hi november mates,

I have my N400 interview at the end of february. I have an important Qs about my Tax filling status, I applied based on 5 year rules:

Fist how important is the STATUS of filling tax papers based on 5 year rules. My situation is I get seperated from my spouse in 2007, we did not file for divorce till now. I filled my 2006 and 2007 tax as married filling seperatly, but since 2008 i'm filling as single.

Can someone please advise me and if someone has passed through same scenario. What do I need to do to avoid any nagative impact on my naturalization Interview.

As long as you've always filed, you'll be fine. I actually didn't even file at all back in '07 and was worried that would be an issue, but it never came up in the interview. Seriously, whether you filed as single or joint is a non-issue. You filed, that's what counts.

Questions asked (I, the U.S. citizen spouse, got to sit in on the interview and listen!):

Read the following:

When is Columbus Day?

Write the answer to said question as it (the answer) is read aloud by the interviewer:

Columbus Day is in October.

How many Supreme Court justices are there?

How long are U.S. senators elected for?

What did the Declaration of Independence accomplish?

If the president and vice-president are no longer able to serve, who becomes president?

Name one branch of the U.S. government.

And one other, but we both forget...

Yeah, making an appointment now for a walk-in at the passport center today. I know we're not at exactly 14 days yet, but we need to mail our passports off for visas too, so I hope they'll let it slide a few days early.

Still nothing at all here for my Orlando interview .... :(

No updates, no alerts, no online touches or activity, no reply to my "case inquiry" which they opened...

My online last touch date still shows as 11/16/2010 for RFE (Biometrics Letter) even though I got the yellow letter.

11-03-2010 N400 Mailed to Texas from Orlando, FL by USPS Priority Mail

11-06-2010 Mail tracking status shows as received (Counts as day 1)

11-09-2010 Citizenship fee check cashed

11-11-2010 Notice of receipt received from USCIS in postal mail and it was dated 11-09-2010

11-16-2010 Received Biometrics Appointment Notice. Appointment date scheduled on notice 12-13-2010

11-22-2010 Did walk-in Biometrics in Orlando instead of waiting for 12-13-2010

12-31-2010 Checked case status online and still saying Request for Evidence and last update date was 11-16-2010 (usual Biometrics notice)

01-10-2011 Received Yellow letter in mail describing what docs to bring to interview. (letter dated 01-04-2011 but online status not updated, still showing 11-16-2010 as above)

01-18-2011 Decided to call USCIS today and ask about my interview date and they opened up a case to my local office asking for a reply to be sent to me.

02-03-2011 Got an alert today which says I am now at testing and interview stage. Waiting on actual interview letter now.

02-04-2011 Shows another touch on the online status today

02-07-2011 Received Interview Letter in the mail today. Letter was dated 02-04-2011

03-15-2011 Passed my interview with ease.

03-18-2011 Oath date.

Believe me I am sincerely hoping you get your letter soon...I know the aggravation waiting can cause.

Now for what its worth..Im closing my eyes and trying to fly some good karma over...hope it works.good.gif

Those 100 questions..yes...I put that off with the excuse that i dont have a date..but now I have no excuse.

BTW I just found out that in NYC, they give you an oath letter a few weeks after the interview, then make you wait a month or so for the oath ceremony...so my headache is not really over....there is more waiting coming my way.

Bora bora must have forgottten her password or correct user name...happened to me, then last year I created a new login and password.

Cant blame her..nowadays you need a damn login and passwd for everything online.

Once again sending some good luck your way...
