Okay, that is NOT normal, considering you have not yet completed your Bio, right? Typically you would get the RFE notice for your BIo at this stage. Could be a mistake unless you have had a BIO done recently for some other purpose which required an FBI clearence.

Well I certainly didn't make that notice up, that is what I got, and copied and pasted it verbatim. Seems strange to me that I could not petition for my stepson because he was barely over 21, and my stepdaughter could not become a US citizen with my wife because she was barely over 18. So what it is with your date of birth, is 18 considered to be an adult or is it 21? And why is the date of birth so important when just a few days different affects your entire family life? Family life is entirely secondary to the USCIS. We were advised to wait until my wife became a US citizen before petitioning for her son due to the long delays in processing. Today the USCIS processing time site is saying it takes 5 months for a LPR to petition for an unmarried child over 21, but is taking 43 months for a US citizen for the same exact petition.

Six years ago is was something like taking ten years for a LPR to petition to their unmarried child over 21, was about a year if a US citizen. How does one deal with a government agency like this? Really need a good crystal ball. But keeping a family together is certainly not a priority with them.

And what is this bit about being photographed at biometrics? Is this true with all field offices or just one? Why don't all field offices have the same day oath, especially if you live hundreds of miles away. One thing you never want to do is to argue with them, just see what happens and be super nice or they will really hang you. Yes, I did ask very nicely about why my daughter could not receive her citizenship with her mom, if showed them the long delays in our AOS processing that caused her to be over 18. Doesn't make any difference to them, and they still can't get 18 or 21 years of age straight. Why is the date of birth so important to them, why isn't keeping a family together important to them?

I don't have the answers to these questions, just wait and see what happens. At least we learned our daughter will be covered under our health insurance policy until she is 26 years of age. The kind of jobs available today, her health insurance would cost more than she can make. Shouldn't the USCIS also make that age 26? We are but one person, but have 1,525 different government agencies to deal with, all with their own set of rules. Don't even bother with your congressman, too busy running for re-election.

Now time to wait....

My wife has been waiting since 11/10. Every day I expect to see that notice in the mail. I think I'm more excited about the letter than she is but of course I don't have to study for the civics test and she does. :-)

So what it is with your date of birth, is 18 considered to be an adult or is it 21? And why is the date of birth so important when just a few days different affects your entire family life? Family life is entirely secondary to the USCIS. We were advised to wait until my wife became a US citizen before petitioning for her son due to the long delays in processing. Today the USCIS processing time site is saying it takes 5 months for a LPR to petition for an unmarried child over 21, but is taking 43 months for a US citizen for the same exact petition.

Six years ago is was something like taking ten years for a LPR to petition to their unmarried child over 21, was about a year if a US citizen. How does one deal with a government agency like this? Really need a good crystal ball. But keeping a family together is certainly not a priority with them.

And what is this bit about being photographed at biometrics? Is this true with all field offices or just one? Why don't all field offices have the same day oath, especially if you live hundreds of miles away. One thing you never want to do is to argue with them, just see what happens and be super nice or they will really hang you. Yes, I did ask very nicely about why my daughter could not receive her citizenship with her mom, if showed them the long delays in our AOS processing that caused her to be over 18. Doesn't make any difference to them, and they still can't get 18 or 21 years of age straight. Why is the date of birth so important to them, why isn't keeping a family together important to them?

I don't have the answers to these questions, just wait and see what happens. At least we learned our daughter will be covered under our health insurance policy until she is 26 years of age. The kind of jobs available today, her health insurance would cost more than she can make. Shouldn't the USCIS also make that age 26? We are but one person, but have 1,525 different government agencies to deal with, all with their own set of rules. Don't even bother with your congressman, too busy running for re-election.

Nick, the photographing started on 25th october. They actually capture your fingerprints, take your pics, and also capture your signature. it is all to do with the new Naturalization certificates that are going to be issued.

As I explained in one of my other posts in September filers...If you have a code 3, on the top right of your Biometrics appt letter, that means they will take all 3.

It explains about the new digitised pic on the certificate, rhather than the stuck on one.

When I had my pic taken at Bio, the lady asked me if the pic was ok, or would I like it taken again.

I actually had my Interview yesterday, and the pics I sent in were in th file, and will stay there, the new digitised pic is being used on my certificate...

And yes,..all Service centres are adopting the new procedure

10/22/2007 Filed I-130 x 2 in person + paid 710 USD (355 each )

10/22/2007 Filed DS-230 part 1 x 2

10/22/2007 Received the document checklist and FRN (case) numbers

12/18/2007 I-130 petition approved, but I didn't know. I was away at the time, didn't get confirmation letters til I got back from the states.

12/20/2007 Notice of Approval arrives in tha mail. According to the date received stamp on back of envelope at my post box.

Will now wait til hubby is back from Iraq to fax in checklist readiness, even though, I have been ready since day of lodging I-130's. all except medical.

02/18/2008 Faxed the "checklist" back to the consulate.

02/25/2008 Medicals completed.

02/25/2008 Appt letters in mail for appt on March 7th. Cant go due to prior military commitments. Emailed consulate and received an amended appt date of March 12th 2008.

03/12/2008 Visa interview - APPROVED x 2

03/27/2008 Visa's finally generated. I emailed the consulate. they apologised for the delay. They forgot to issue the visas after approval.

03/31/2008 Received visas

04/26/2008 Flying out of Frankfurt to next duty station on orders.

I checked with FBI around 5 PM and they said that they received my FP, processed it, and sent it back to USCIS.

When I asked if I had to redo it and that's why they sent them back, they said no, everything was okay and I didn't need to redo them.

They told me to check with USCIS.

So I guess now I just wait on USCIS... :)

Yeah that's what I did. 3046255590 is the number. #2 for individual and then there's an option for immigration. Listen to what it says and it will give prompt to speak with representative.

They ask for your alien number and also your name.

They don't tell you whether you "passed" or not but can tell you whether they processed it or not....
