Hi,

I just checked my ROC status online and it said "On March 7, 2011, we ordered production of your new card. Please allow 30 days for your card to be mailed to you. If we need something from you we will contact you. If you move before you receive the card, call customer service at 1-800-375-5283."

Does that mean I'm approved?

Same thing happened to us too... we got an RFE Saturday and we're so disappointed. Stardust, we there with you... We submitted our taxes filed joinly for 2009, copy of title of our house we purchased together, copy of last utility bill, insurance (car & health), joint bank account,letters from friends and our auto loans for both of our cars (joint)... in the letter we received it states evidence "from date of marriage to present"... do they want us to send bills for the past 2 years, all taxes filed since we got married, our old lease (which was provided @ time of interview for the first GC)... we don't have children and they have asked us for birth certificate even though on the application to remove status we stated we have no children... what else could we send them? We're planing to call USCIS tomorrow and hopefully can talk to someone who can shed more light on our situation.

Also, we didn't get email about our case or this REF and our case number doesn't come up online and once we called USCIS in January, we were told everything is OK and our case is pending. The receipt # is OK and the problem is with the on-line system. It took them 2 months from biometrics on 12/29 to tell us they need more evidence... so not fair.

He advised us to resend everything we already sent plus anything additional we can think of. We can also schedule an infopass appointment if we really wan to know why we received the RFE, but that means a 2 hour drive to Milwaukee. I get the impression that they sometimes just pick random cases for RFE's and you and I were just the unlucky ones. From your post, it seems like you sent in even more than we did and you still got an RFE. It makes no sense! So... we're just going to resend everything plus maybe some affidavits and proof that we traveled together. That's all I can think of that we haven't already sent.

One more question about our RFE. We didn't submit affidavits with our original paperwork because they weren't required and we thought we had enough proof of a legitimate marriage. So we are planning to send some affidavits this time. Do they have to be notarized?? :huh: Just wondering

Should we send them again or don't... second thing is they sent us an envelope to submit our evidecne and it's a regular size envelope that it's difficult to get everything fit in it...

Also, did you send copies of your driver license... I read somewhere that some members had sent copies of their DL... we're going to add copies of our DL too.

Best of luck... hopefully after we have everyhting together and send them in, we both get approved quickly.

Sorry to hear about your RFE. We just got approved last week. Here is the list of items we sent in. I hope they help.

1. Copy of Permanent Resident Card of my wife.

2. Copy of our joint US tax return transcripts for the year 2008 and 2009.

3. Original Verification of Account issued by my bank verifying details of our joint account.

4. Copies of joint bank account statements.

5. Copy of Home Equity Loan Agreement.

6. Copy of the title of our car, showing joint ownership.

7. Copy of Health and Life Insurance Plans Enrollment and Beneficiary Confirmation Notices.

8. Copies of Voluntary Investment Plan (401k) beneficiary designations.

9. Copies of IRA and Roth IRA Beneficiary designations.

10. Copies of medical bills showing my wife as patient.

11. Copy of our Driver's Licenses showing same address.

12. Copies of auto, homeowner, and umbrella insurance policies with both our names.

13. Copies of electricity and utilities bills.

14. Original affidavits by three U.S. citizen friends, attesting to our relationship and marriage.

15. Records of our vacations during the years of 2008, 2009 and 2010, including itineraries, boarding passes issued by various airlines, and some pictures taken during the relevant vacations and our daily life.

Sorry to hear about your RFE's ...

To Yasi: I suggest you include tax return for 2008 or the tax return you filed since you got married. Some wedding pictures, because it said "evidence from date of marriage to present". Also include your old lease. I know we already provided those in the initial interview for the 2 year Conditional card, but we still included them anyway.If you have a 401K include that too.. Anniversary pictures, recent holiday pictures with friends and family. Joint Credit Cards, if you have one, just photocopy the whole credit cards showing both your names.Costco Cards, gym membership cards... Also include some utility bills,maybe not the whole 2 years but maybe just a few bills for every few months. Probably include honeymoon pictures too.. we literally took the "from date of marriage to present" part haha ) and we sent them everything that we can think of...I hope this helps..

To Stardust: the affidavits do not have to be notarized, but your friends probably need to put their SSN on it. I am not exactly sure why, but I read somewhere here in VJ that it makes the letter certified. I know, it is a pain in the butt...Although, the affidavits we sent were notarized. In my opinion, it makes it more believable and legit, if you know what I mean. If you can include affidavits from your spouse's family that would be great too. I know, having them notarized is a pain too since it is just another thing to spend on... you can read more about the affidavits here in VJ.

I hope when you go talk to the IO when you make an infopass, they will be able to shed some light regarding this.

congrats to all who got their approval...i wish VSC will hurry up and approve us all...ill be going on vacation in spring and im hoping to get my green card before i leave....

i have a question for those who already got their approval....did you get any 'touches' before your approval or just from 'no touch' to approve? just wonder...i havent got any 'touches' since they got my application...nothing when i had my boimetrics...so im thinking my application is collecting dust on someone's desk...i just hope that people in VSC will be in the mood to 'clean' their desk...

Hi rylee, after my biometrics, I heard nothing form them. The card actually came in a USPS Priority Flat Rate envelope, which I thought was a regular letter because I was used to getting a letterhead envelope form them. Then today, I got a letter from them congratulating me for the approval. I guess they were sent the same time, but the other one was a priority mail so it arrived earlier.. I don't know... maybe that's it..Anyway, I hope they will get to your application soon. Best of luck to you ...

Updated to show RFE received and responded. I am not sure why they RFE'ed us because we sent many documents originally. I sent a few more such as the original house lease, costco membership, etc. Hopefully that will be enough. It looks like many others are getting RFEs as well.
