Think we covered that, if you dismiss his success in TV, Cable, books and talk shows I don't know what more you need.

My opinion of "his" opinion is not very high but that does not mean he is not a valid voice.

Why argue with Hopp, Danno? While you're being open-minded about Bill Maher's views, on the one hand, you're also exhibiting your usual closed-mindedness when confronted re your attempt to control what views others post here.

Using your measure of left-wing, atheist nutter success in Hollywood granting validity to statements whether one's opinion of the nutter is high or not, why stop at Bill Maher? He is only one of many "valid" voices among successful anti-religious bigots, since leftism and atheism are prominent among successful Hollywood entertainers (and he is an entertainer, not a geo-political analyst, btw). Hollywood is full of valid voices, no?

Maher is not my hero, I don't even like the guy but he is relevant to the national conversation on issues.

Maher is only relevant because people who do not like him attribute substance to his views.

Just the name Bill Mahr pisses me off. He is the only reason I don't have HBO at home. I vote with my wallet. Now if the Sopranos ever came back to HBO I might have to return and pretend my "subscription" was going to the Italians.
