Hi... My finance has completed the I-134 and gather the necessary info from his bank but NOW he can't find his income tax statement. He has ordered another copy, but it will likely take a few weeks (too late for my interview - unless I call to change it!?) How vital is it that I have it?

I am a little nervous because he took last year off (leave of abs) - he is a teacher. He does NOT have more than $1700 debt and that is on a 2nd vehicle. He owns, outright, a vehicle, and his house and property in AK. He lived on his late wife's death benefits and had only utilities to pay for as they lived in his parents cabin in MN for that one year. He also has life insurance and investments.

I HAVE:

- the completed/signed I-134 with all the supporting banking info (documents income from benefits, investments etc.)

- a letter from his current employer

- a copy of his current teaching contract (income is clearly stated)

- a copy of his request for a "leave of abs" from his last employer (2009-10 school year) - he moved from AK to MN so he and his kids would be closer to family (and we could have a REAL relationship)

- W2

MY packet 3 from Vancouver asks for the I-134 but does NOT specifically request the income tax statements. Will I have enough other documentation to satisfy them? Is there anything else I could take to help?

thanks

Adjusting from K-1

06/24/11 - mailed AOS/EAD/AP applications to Chicago Lockbox

06/29/11 - received email notification of arrival

08/05/11 - still no word on EAD - no RFE, no NOA... Wondering if this is something to worry about?!

08/11/11 - biometrics apt in Fairbanks (apt letter listed AOS only)

The answer will depend on the consulate. Most require a copy of the tax return or an explanation why the sponsor wasn't required to file a return. If he filed a return last year then I'm guessing they'll want to see it.

He can park himself next to a FAX machine on Monday morning, and then call the IRS at 1-800-829-1040. Once he get's a human being on the phone he can request a transcript of his tax return BY FAX. He'll need to know his SSN and the Adjusted Gross Income that was written on his tax return (for identification purposes). They'll FAX the transcript to him within 10 or 15 minutes. He can then FAX or scan & email the transcript to you.

12/15/2009 - K1 Visa Interview - APPROVED!

12/29/2009 - Married in Oakland, CA!

08/18/2010 - AOS Interview - APPROVED!

05/01/2013 - Removal of Conditions - APPROVED!
