(CNSNews.com) – Stand by for the kosher tea party.

tea%20party-israel.jpg

Logo of Israel's nascent Tea Party. The text reads "At the Likud's Tea Party, we say 'no' to Obama."

Inspired by the movement that is roiling politics in the United States this election season, conservative Israeli lawmakers plan to launch an Israeli version at the weekend, with their sights set firmly on President Obama.

The initiative is being driven by Michael Kleiner, a veteran legislator who split from the ruling Likud Party during Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu previous term. He now heads a small nationalist party to the right of the Likud.

Sunday’s rally in Tel Aviv is headlined “Say no to Obama,” signaling the view held by many Israeli conservatives that the president is placing undue pressure on Netanyahu to make concessions in negotiations that are not in Israel’s national interest.

Their immediate concern is that Netanyahu will agree to U.S. calls to renew a recently-expired, 10-month freeze on construction work in Israeli settlements in the disputed “West Bank.”

More than 300,000 Israelis live in the communities, which range from small hamlets to towns with populations exceeding 30,000.

The Palestinian Authority (P.A.) says that as long as building continues in settlements, it will not return to direct talks with the Israelis. P.A. leaders are also considering the option of pursuing a United Nations resolution establishing a Palestinian state unilaterally.

Adding to domestic pressure on Netanyahu, at least three sitting Likud lawmakers plan to take part in Sunday’s rally, Israeli media report.

The organizers’ stated goals are ambitious.

“We seek to change the political debate in Israel, to change the public’s worldview about what can and cannot be done to end the conflict,” they say in a statement posted on a Hebrew-language Facebook page set up to promote the initiative.

Talk about the need for negotiation arises from “inertia and habit,” rather than from a real political need or Israeli interest, the statement says.

Noting the U.S. Tea Party’s opposition to the Obama administration, it says the Israeli movement will aim to prevent “surrender” to Obama’s pressure.

It is time for Israelis to stop feeling helpless in the face of pressure from Obama and the European Union, and to redefine the Israeli national interest, “with heads held high and without fear,” the statement says.

The organizers are inviting “people who are our cup of tea every city and every community across the country” to join forces and host events.

Tea party movements have emerged in several other countries this year, including versions in Italy, Australia, the Netherlands and Britain.

LOL...gotta love it. The Jews are worried that the US will actually expect Israel to keep it's word in regards to not building new Jewish settlements on the West Bank ?

Is there anything in the US Constitution that says US tax payers will pay Israels defense bill for eternity ? The Jews should learn to shut their trap before the flow of US tax dollars to Israel stops.

I'm all for a Jewish nation and all that, but the Jews have a major problem with the word "modesty".

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

No, the Israelis are concerned that the US expects only them to keep their word and will give the Palestinians a free pass on their unkept promises.

And just a comment. The people are Israeli. Your tone and word usage come across as distinctly anti-Semitic.

Don't interrupt me when I'm talking to myself

the Jews have a major problem with the word "modesty".

Do you mean The Jews? Or the Jooz? Or is it the Hebrews, or the Israelites?

Or actually, maybe you mean the hebes, or the kikes, or the yids, or the shysters or the hymies or the shylocks?

You know what? You stink. Your bigotry is as tired and as old as the hills. We've seen it all before, and it doesn't get any better with age. And that's "immodest" Jew telling you that. Stuff it. Creep.

So I'm bigoted against Jews eh ? And why is that ? Because I made a statement in regards to new Jewish settlements on the West Bank ? Or was it the remark about the US subsidizing billions of dollars to Israel ?

Like I said in my previous post I have no problem with a Jewish state..country...whatever. Last time I checked, Israel was the main US ally in that neck of the woods.

What I do have a problem with is Israel building new settlements on the West Bank when they know it's going to do nothing more than screw the peace process over there. I have no love for rocket launching Muslims, but if Israel doesn't lay off the on building new settlements in Arab land it's the US that's going to have to foot the bill...like usual.

Now it's my ###### tax dollars that are going to Israel so I should have just as much right to my opinion on it as any tax paying American should seeing how we are footing the bill for Israel's ticket so to say.

What would happen if all those US tax payer dollars to Israel came to a sudden halt ? For the money the US has GIVEN Israel we should own that country ten times over by now.

Now if you have a problem about a US tax payer wanting more of his/her money ...get over it.

You are a US taxpayer. So am I. You can speak about what you don't or don't like regarding Israeli government policy, that's just fine. I do the same. As it happens, if you had bothered to ask, I have reasonably similar views to your regarding settlement policy in the West Bank.

Your bigotry is not in opposing settlements, nor in opposing Israeli policy. Your bigotry is in your statement which I quoted:

"the Jews have a major problem with the word "modesty"

Transpose that, to, oh say, "the Blacks have a major problem with their tendency to crime"

or "the Catholics have a major problem with their slavish devotion to Rome"

or "the Muslims have a major problem with their fanaticism"

or "the Gays have a major problem with their perversions".

Get the picture, eh?

Bigot. Plain and simple. If you can't see it in yourself, bigger the shame.

That's reaching a bit imo. Now if I was a holocaust denier whack job or something that would be one thing...but saying "Jews" ?

Totally agreed! Tho, 'shylock' technically isn't offensive either ;lol: I know several of them, and they aren't even Jewish, ahahhaah. ;)

W-M: my problem is with your statement 'the Jews have a problem with modesty' That just stinks.

So only Holocaust Denial rises to the level of antisemitism? No, afraid not. There are no shortage of ugly insensitive and prejudicial comments that don't involve the Holocaust and yet are clearly antisemitic.

You didn't simply say "Jews". You said "The Jews". In a context that generalized and applied to all, as opposed to some.

Generalizations of any sort are dicey, but generalizations about an ethnicity or religion particularly so.

I am Jewish, so by context your comments apply to me. They apply to the roughly 12 million Jews in the world. Many of those are no doubt "immodest". Many are not. Who are you to lump all of us in a category? Who are you to associate the government policies of Israel with the personal views and attitudes of Jews in Israel and around the world? Jews are a diverse lot - we have a variety of beliefs and views on any subject you care to mention, including the policies of Israel in regards to the West Bank. Talking about "the Jews" as being all in cahoots on some policy that you dislike is entirely reminiscent of all the various ugly historical conspiracies we've been accused of - whether it's using Christian children blood in our Matzohs, or killing Christ, or running the world banks and governments. ENOUGH already! We are people, your neighbors, coworkers, and fellow citizens.

It was pointed out to you by several people, not only me, that you had crossed a line. You choose not to see that, and go on defending your stance as acceptable. That says more about you, in my opinion, than your original comments.

A thoughtful person, one with decent social sensitivities towards others, would pause, reflect, and perhaps see that he had caused offense. Such a person (a gentleman, shall we say?) would realize that while part of his post is an acceptable statement of opinion, to which you are no doubt entitled, there was a part of his post that was not acceptable. Such a person would offer a retraction for that limited portion. Till now, you have not. You may still do so, there is no statute of limitations for apology that I am aware of.

As an aside: In many VJ threads, a mod would have come in by now to start deleting posts and lock the thread. That's their response to this sort of thing. I'm really glad they haven't reached here (yet). It's not my style to "report" a thread. And I think censoring posts is Orwellian, trying to "undo" that which has already been done. Your words were uttered. Only you can retract them. A mod removing your posts, and my responses, will not achieve that. In fact, I think it's healthy to have this exchange as part of the public record. If you don't retract or see where you are insensitive, that will always be there for the rest of us to link to as a citation. If you do retract - here's your moment to show the decent fellow you are. Mod censorship achieves neither of those goals.

Best post on this thread imo. The rest of the bunch seems to have went to one to many "Sensitivity Classes".

Nothing would happen. Do you even know how much money the US sends to Israel relative to their GDP?

Israel's GDP (2009): $205.8 billion

US military aid (2009): $2.5 billion

That's right - less than l.22 percent of Israel's economy.

The Jews (Hebrew: יְהוּדִים‎ "Yehudim" IPA: jɛhuːdiːm), also known as the Jewish people, are a nation and ethnoreligious group originating in the Israelites or Hebrews of the Ancient Near East. The Jewish ethnicity, nationality, and religion are strongly interrelated, as Judaism is the traditional faith of the Jewish nation.[6][7][8] Converts to Judaism, whose status as Jews within the Jewish ethnos is equal to those born into it, have been absorbed into the Jewish people throughout the millennia.

Paul Newman's half Jewish, Goldie Hawn's half too. Put them together, what a fine lookin' Jew.

So Sandler is an Anti-Semite too?
