I sent form I-102 concurrently w/ my I-130, I-485 and I-765 to have my I-94 replaced. I included an "EXPEDITE REQUEST" letter and attached it on top of the I-102 application (per directions on the USCIS.gov website). The reason that I gave for my Expedite request was that I would need the original I-94 to take w/ me to my interview and that I was afraid that it would be a big issue if I didn't have it... All I had was a photocopy of the original one that I had (I lost the original and obtained the photocopy from my high school). I also said that I didn't know what the processing time was for the I-102 and was afraid that it wouldn't be approved on time for the interview... (even though I checked the processing time and it showed it was 2.5 months and the adjustment of status processing time is 4 months)

Anyways, I never received a response for my expedite request letter so I figured they denied it and I never followed up with it... all I got was the NOA1 saying that they received the application and that it usually takes 60-180 days to process that type of application.

Then on 10/20/10, I got an email and text from USCIS saying my I-102 was approved! The last touch on this application before this was 10/04/2010. Then I got the approval letter and replacement I-94 3 days later on 10/23/2010. That's 21 days since the first NOA1! That's way shorter than the 60-180 day time frame that they said it would take to process it on the letter. I can't believe it! :)

Now just waiting on the rest of my applications to be approved, let alone just be touched :-/ Maybe the "4 Month" processing time will get cut down just like the I-102 processing time was... crossing my fingers, but I doubt it!

Just curious, how does your I-94 replacement card look like?

Is it just the number on a receipt or the actual card?

Thank You.

I don't know what the original looks like (just because all I had was the photocopy) but the replacement actually came w/ the approval letter so it's made out of the same type of paper that immigration sends you NOA's on... You just have to detach it from the bottom of the paper... but it has my name, DOB, I-94 #, and has the validity dates on it. And the back just has a bunch of immigration info on it. :star:

  • 10 months later...

Hey I am very happy for you ...Unfortunately i am having the similar issue. I was holding F1 visa(student visa) as i am international student. After graduation i applied for jobs and i haven't noticed i have lost my I-94 ...After i got job offer and start applying for OPT or SSN like work authorization stuff i understood i don't have my I-94 and i need to process to get started for work.

I have been reading all the comments on the internet and people are talking about 2-6 months about this replacement process.

Your case i think is an exception...Could you please send me your cover letter ? I need to write similar things to yours as yours got approved ..

Please help me out with this. I need to apply and get at least in a month ... i really don't know what to tell my company at this point since they are waiting for me ...

My mail address is azze.tunc@gmail.com

If you can give me any suggestion about this process or I-102 FORM i would really appreciate it....I need help...

Thanks in advance..
