I'm a little skeptical of this list and would like to see what it's based on. In particular, I'm surprised there are some many cities in upstate NY. I live in upstate NY and if this is a good place to start over, that just means that the rest of the US is sucking it up.

altho i did hear something along these lines, some years ago, from an executive at my current employer (now retired). he strongly believed the Hudson Valley was due for a comeback.

why?

Petrochemical plants and whatever. I don't know really as I don't live over there. Others on city-data say it smells after it rains but it has yet to since I moved here. A few communities I have read about were built on former oil fields and stink also as a result. mmmm toxic waste dump front lawn yay!

how about texas - lots of places there on the list. :hehe:

I thought I read or heard a few weeks back that TX has created more jobs than all the other states combined.

Not sure what those jobs are but impressive none the less.

I live in Texas and so far during this recession/ depression our area has faired OK considering. House building and land development is booming. The houses in my area are selling quickly and for more than 3-4 years ago. In fact there are not many for sale. A guy on my street just sold his house for around a 12% increase ( which i don't think is bad in this economy) on what he bought it for 4 years ago and it was only on the market for a couple of weeks.

The job market here appears to be impacted but not as much as I have seen elsewhere and even with no State tax our property taxes have not increased too drastically over the past few years.

IK HOU VAN JOU, MARK

Take a large, almost round, rotating sphere about 8000 miles in diameter, surround it with a murky, viscous atmosphere of gases mixed with water vapor, tilt its axis so it wobbles back and forth with respect to a source of heat and light, freeze it at both ends and roast it in the middle, cover most of its surface with liquid that constantly feeds vapor into the atmosphere as the sphere tosses billions of gallons up and down to the rhythmic pulling of a captive satellite and the sun. Then try to predict the conditions of that atmosphere over a small area within a 5 mile radius for a period of one to five days in advance!
